I never had a problem playing the first one without the paddle. Does a paddle give someone a big advantage again--by letting you actually control your ship's speed--like in the last one?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Well, it's not that I'm considering buying a DS Paddle to gain any possible gameplay advantage in either SIE game. I just want to burn $30+ on a non-DSi compatible device to see how well it works with the handful of DS games it supports, is all.

I want a paddle just because I think it sounds awesome. It looks like they're starting to become scarce, so I better act now.

I really love the paddle controller. I've used it more for Arkanoid than SIE, but it's great for both games.

Does anybody know how to beat the Boss in 5D? I hate bouncy baby invaders, and napalm is hard to take down.

I've reached the final segment of it only to die from the beamspam.

So I look at the last page and I notice that there are some pretty high scores (70+ million). Care to post them in the high score thread? ;)

Here's my Friend code if you're up for a friendly game of SIE-2 right now:

PCEFX! - 395333 042262

Played against a fellow SIE-2 fella named RYO with an impressive 60 wins so far on Multiplayer Wi-Fi. He or she is using an JPN cart of SIE-2 though. ^_~

It seems to be a hit or miss getting the random chance to play against Japanese or European SIE-2 gamers though. Haven't played against a USA-based SIE-2 player yet.

So did they do something about that annoying announcer or not?

Nope. Same announcer.

As sad as it may sound, I think some of that stuff with the player distribution online might have to do with the fact that the European and Japanese ROMs of SIE2 have been dumped, while the US ROM hasn't.

I hate it when he calls me Maverick for beating a stage one boss. The game is superb, but it turns my DS into a prick...

SIE2's announcer doesn't bother me. I even came to like him after time.

BTW, this game is still great. Playing it with the Rumble Pak adds to the experience, since it vibrates in time with the music and lets you fully revel in all of the game's Tetsuya Mizuguchi-ness.

5D's boss is still kicking my ass. It's usually at the last part where I die, ironically.

Went down to my local Gamestop earlier today and was browsing the NDS gaming section. Didn't see any copies of SIE-2 up for sale. Proceeded to the front counter and asked if they had any in stock. The gal said that there weren't any used in stock but had one brand new. Bought it right away.

Yeah, it's still possible to buy a copy of USA NDS version of SIE-2 at Gamestop with the usual MSRP $19.99 USD, you just gotta ask for it at the front counter though.

Wow, that is damn cheap. Just for a mere twenty quarters + some odd change for the obligatory sales tax and it's yours to keep for good.

Damn, and I paid $20 for mine.

It was a very good $20 though. I know I've gotten at least $35 worth of fun out of it.
