From trying out both Cotton (arcade) and its PS1 port in emulation, the port seems much easier. At least going by level 1... enemies die quicker, levelling up is faster, and the first midboss' pattern no longer surrounds the player. The stage boss can be killed with a charge shot before it even attacks. Setting the port to Hard adds a ton of suicide bullets, which isn't ideal - I just want the arcade defaults. Is there a hidden "arcade" setting squirreled away somewhere?
Failing that, does the port compensate for the weakened enemies somehow? I'd be fine with a re-tuning, but I'd pass on a straight-up nerf. Thanks for any help, I realise it's a rather picky enquiry!

So the arcade original is harder then. The ps1 port is incredibly easy apart from one boss, it made me think it must be the easiest arcade stg to clear as even a low skill player like me did it very quickly
Re: Cotton Original (PS1), difficulty nerfed?
Seems so, unfortunately. I have to admit, I enjoy the port more - weak firepower is a shooter pet peeve of mine. But being unable to compete with arcade scores is no good.

I hope level 2 doesn't spring up and act all impossible. Or something.
