What is the point in a "soft" option for video?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

Does anyone use the "soft" option in videogames (if its selectable) and why?

I just put Tekken 5 in my cab (on my PS2) and played it for an hour. Checked the options and it was on soft mode. I put it in SHARP mode and voila, it looks even better than did before.

I remember God of War having such an option too.

some people dislike visible pixels and so they like to see them softened out.

I sometimes enable Soft if the video seems flickery or something. Otherwise I turn it off.
