Bleemcast

Post by ac_slatercore »

Does anybody know where I can find the Bleem! beta for the Dreamcast? I heard you could play a few games with the beta (Einhander?). Please let me know any info.

I had it, and got rid of it. Trust me, it's not even worth it. Einhander runs slow. You're better off using EPSXE.

I agree with specineff, I have it myself and have tried to run FF7 with little success on DC.

Better off playing the home console, metal gear solid is playable enough on dreamcast as is grand tourismo 2 but stay away from tekken.

Shmup-wise, R-Type Delta works awesome, as does Raystorm. Both look great and run at, asfaik, normal speeds.

Takumi's Night Raid PSX game runs at 60fps on DC...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

If you have a copy of Takumi's PSX game of Night Raid, it runs at 60 frames per second silky smooth on the DC console using the "beta" Bleemcast CD-R disc.

PSX Night Raid looks even better running on the DC via the DC VGA Box output support at 31 kHz than running on the original Taito G-Net arcade motherboard hardware with a copy of Takumi's Night Raid on a Taito G-Card cartridge at 15 Khz.

I've got to get this. I just picked up an HDTV, and that VGA port might as well be called the Dreamcast port as far as I'm concerned. The more progressive-scan shmups the better. And I thought the DC couldn't get any cooler. I bet Sony about crapped their pants when this thing came out.

WOAH DUDE! :shock:

i have the PAL-version of Raystorm for PSX like forever and i always neglected it: it's a slow blurry mess - more or less unplayable on my TV

but after your recomendation a dug it out again, bleemed it on my DC/VGA - and it completely blew me away !!!

a smooth, sharp picture running in 60fps - graphical easily on par with some of the genuine DC-shooters: just f*ckin great :D

thanx alot!

I think it is save to say that about at least 80% of true 3D games on the PS run with Bleemcast. You do get glitches from time to time so not everything is as rosy as everybody makes it out to be and there is no save support. I don't even think that there are 3D games on the ps that run at 60fps. Except maybe that Ridge racer bonus disc that came with Ridge Racer type4. And my Japanese version does not run with Bleemcast but it has been reported that another region version will work but that it runs very slow. I gotto go now, later

mhn...

there is a def. increase of speed between running the game on my PAL-PSX and now on a DC/VGA...

and imho it makes sence:

PAL = 50fps
VGA = 60fps

but maybe it's just me [sic] :)

and you are totally right about the "glitches" in most of the PSX/Bleems - that's why i gave up after a few tries with some of my PSX-games...

but Raystorm/Bleem really is a blast!

I guess the superstupid question I have as a contribution to this thread is, where exactly are you guys getting this beta version of Bleem! for Dreamcast? I've not ever seen it, anywhere.

Unfortunately, it might be a bit taboo to disclose the location, but a google search could help a bit.

Yeah, google should yield results with "bleemcast beta download". I found a link on some forum and a torrent. Have yet to try it though. I'd be interested to know what other games work well with this.

i found it directly downloadable in a forum. when zipped up, the disc image is in the KB range. no torrent needed.

Here is a fascinating topic started by one of the creators of Bleemcast. He answers a lot of questions about the software. He states that the leaked beta is copyrighted material and still can't be distributed. He hints there are much better versions in existence, but that they still fear litigation from Sony.
