Game to go with Album Release??

Post by dpful »

Hi,
it's embaracing, but I've been on the forum every few days for almost five years and I think this is the first time I've even clicked on the development section.

I hope this deosn't sound too dumb, but my band is finishing up an album and I'd like to release it on computer rather than CD or vinyl, and I was wondering if anyone had a shmup they could donate/make/modify or whatever as a collaboration. Is that too wierd? I'm really shooting for a compete product of 1. music files, 2. animated album cover, 3. (if anyone here is interested) an accompanying game to play- maybe featuring our music or something (???) maybe I could supply instrumental tracks with no singing for the shmupping?

To check out the music go to the website
http://www.rest30.com
and scroll down to RED BENNIES (top of the list). The album this would be for is the one called "Glass Hands" (which is still unfinished- the pre-prod music is what's posted there).

There would be no money involved- it's just the culmination of my life's work for anyone to share (I won't be charging for the album). Only reputation and joy.

Anyone interested or have some old program kicking around????

i really like your idea, but i'm not good at coding, and my graphic style is too much funny to come out with your songs.

i think you should start talking with a coder before writing the songs, couse it's hard to create a game which stands well with a premade soundtrack.

for my game i thought to do the same and publish all on my netlabel, but after a little time i notice that my ambient drone sounds doesn't fit wery well with a puzzle-cutemup...

i hope you find out someone to help you out, couse, i repeat, i really like this idea.

Thanks Genecyst,

I'm really not looking for a masterpiece, just something to play along with the package, and that incorporates the band in some way, and looks cool. As for the music, I could midi some of the themes- or provide instrumental tracks, or anything.

Just for general easthetics reference, here's a video I made once out of one of our songs and some shmup footage

I guess I do need a spaceship in the game.

Anyone else interested?
Anyone with either some code they've never used or with a game they want to hype by way of collaboration?

Or, ideally ha ha, anyone with a shmup masterpiece but they don't care what music is has and don't mind if it's rock and roll-- or don't mind releasing a Red Bennies version?
---------that's an idea---- anyone have a finished game and want to release a Red Bennies version just to promote the original? A lot of people would see it, and it would be a real "crossover piece" for pc shmups, home made games, and shmups in general.

Also: I love shmups, and would want the finest game involved with the album, but it's really for fans of the band, so game quality really isn't that much of an issue (I'll take what I can get!)---- just in case anyone wants to breath life into some code they've done a long time ago and given up on.

Maybe you could make a music pack for Xeno Fighters.

I think something like this worked really well for Fire and Forget. I've wanted to try something similar for a long while, but never seem to have enough time. I'm going to listen to your songs, hopefully to be inspired! :)
