Uncharted 2 has plenty of humour. It doesn't take itself particularly seriously and it pokes fun at the flaws of the first game.

No matter how realistic the game gets, it's still Gears of War.

What does that even mean? You always have something to bitch about.
he's the new ceph at times.... it's shooting is very much like gears but you can do ALOT more in this game. not that I'm bashing gears.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Awesome, I like how your basis for an argument is the fact that I used a strategy guide for a game when I was ten years old, on a game which is universally crowned utter shit and horribly overrated. I'm so hurt.

We're not talking about Uncharted 2's single player here. We're talking about Uncharted 2's multiplayer. The same multiplayer which is basically EXACTLY THE SAME as what Gears of War is. I don't even like Gears, but once that glorious run 'n' gun 6 hour singleplayer runs out, it's all you guys will have left.

It's actually pretty hilarious how people are going to defend the game's multiplayer by talking about how superior the singleplayer is. Next, let's talk about how awesome Halo 3's singleplayer is to Halo 2's multiplayer.

My first run through was on hard and it took 14 hrs. I'll probably play through it a couple more times (once to find all the treasures and again on the hardest difficulty setting). I'm not really that into online multiplayer in shooters, but what little I played of it seemed pretty fun. Who cares if the game is somewhat derivative? How many truly original games are there out there at the moment anyway? Even Gears ripped off its cover system from kill.switch.

And anyway, this is a shmups board. You would think people here would be used to playing derivative games by now...

Discussions of big console exclusive titles always suck, because you get people who have no interest in playing the game chipping in with their worthless opinions, simply because they think they have to put down excellent games on systems they don't own. Pathetic.

I was talking more in general, but good for you then. I just made that comment after reading NeoGAF where the Forza 3 thread has a few hundred posts, but the Forza 3 vs GT5 thread has 10 times as many posts. People just seem to champion certain games so they can get into fanboy dick waving contests over them.

huh? the modes are similar in U2 but they certainly don't play out the same as Gears.

Maybe both games are good ?! :o :o :o :o

Of course I do. But I'm not going to buy this because the multiplayer is a direct ripoff. It's not difficult to comprehend.

So if it was a single player only game like the first Uncharted, you would buy it? Not that I care; to each their own. I personally look at Gears of War as a multiplayer primary and single player secondary game. Uncharted is the exact opposite in my eyes. Multiplayer looks to be just a really cool feature in the game. I'm going to be buying this game for the single player like the original.

This is one of those games I might play if I have nothing else to play and the price has dropped significantly. One of those weekend run-through games. Not saying that's bad, just isn't worth $60 to me.

I don't really understand the "I won't play the single player game because the multiplayer rips off GOW" thing though.

At the monastery now, 78% complete. I should have the game beaten tomorrow evening. It's been a blast so far, looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Chapter 16 here.

Its ok as a game. I get pissed off shooting all the time. Because almost 80% of the time you are just shooting and doing nothing else. The train bit was fun and had some very innovative dodging techniques going on. I think i've got over 1000 people in the game so far, thats a tad ridiculous but its ok. It controls better than I thought.

Overall 8/10 here. Most of that for technical achievement. The gameplay gets 6/10.

So far I like infamous better as a game. You can do a lot more things AND SHOOT!

so if it didn't you would buy it? most games I skip the multuplayer.... I'll play the co-op though on this.

I really do in all seriousness want to know... what have you liked?

I hope the second one is on your private yacht.

YOU are talking about Uncharted's multiplayer, not "we". And FFVII was "universally crowned utter shit and horribly overrated"? You really are an idiot. It's amusing to me. So, are there any games you like, or are you not having fun if you have nothing to bitch about?

Yes. I have PAL 80GB and Japanese 60GB (w/ bc) PS3s. Both were really cheap at the time.

Actually, everyone in this thread is talking about Uncharted 2's multiplayer. Think what you like of FFVII, it's obvious you're a fanboy and can't see the flaws in your horribly overrated "gem" which the fanbase has ruined. The only thing amusing is your ability to still post. If you weren't so busy trying to defend your precious games, maybe you would see the games which I do like, instead of questioning what I don't. Judging by your defensiveness of FFVII, you'd make a tidy profit of knowledge from reading once in awhile. Invest now.
I really do in all seriousness want to know... what have you liked?
This year? Demon's Souls, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Death Smiles, Shooting Love 200X. Futari and Bayonetta aren't even out yet and I know I'm going to like them. Next year has Monster Hunter 3 and Lost Planet 2 (note: first two lost planets lack online co-op so forget it). If I had a Wii, I'd probably check out A Boy and his Blob, Muramasa, and Sin & Punishment 2.

I have learnt that just because I don't like a game that it doesn't give me the right to knock someone who does like it.

Although, I really wish people would stop buying games I don't like because they just make more of them.

I saw a Road Rash concept for this gen @ computerandvideogames.com recently. When I posted it on several forums I got about 3 replies on each and then it got swept under the carpet. It seems nobody likes the games I like anymore.

Gears of War didn't invent cover.
Uncharted isn't realistic.

I need to try out these games; so far I've just tried the pretty shit N64 entry in the series (ugly3D).

Just got to play the first episode today and took a sneak peek @ 2 the second, and I have to say:

this is what I bought a PS3 for! WOW!

Never seen such a beautiful game like this. And not only that, playing it feels natural from the start.
Certainly washed away the bad taste of GT IV which I also bought (I should have known this one wasn't going to win me over for the series either, despite the nice visuals).

Just played through this on normal. The in game clock is showing 10 and half hours, which seems about right. Spoilers ahead, tread carefully!

It's really more of the same -- which isn't a knock on the game at all. Very linear, very shooty, definitely very pretty. I thought the "boss battles" were pretty dire, though. Not sure what you were supposed to accomplish in the Nepal bit with the snow demon. It seemed like no amount of shooting actually did anything at all, and you had to be captured on purpose to start the mini QTE fight. Two QTE fights and it's done. The tank bit soon after that was poorly designed. I could see it being an impressive scene when you know what you're doing. But since any open place leaves you full of holes from the tank's artillery gun, you're just there ducking behind some cover. Well, until you figure out that everything's at a stalemate, and you decide to advance to the next building, at which point you're shot full of lead. Rinse. Repeat. Ugh. Unfortunately, the end boss battle was the most disappointing of them all. I kept running in a circle and shooting the same piece of amber on the bridge for what must have taken a good 20 minutes. It was that or keep getting beat up by Lazarevic or be spammed by grenades :?

Good parts. The collapsing building in Urban Warfare was ahmazing. Actually, that whole part in that area was my favorite bit in the game. Well, that and the train. Train sections are always super awesome in games, this is no exception. The few times you could use stealth and snap enemies' necks was great. Pulling soldiers down from rooftops while hanging on the edge was even better.

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable game. The attention to detail and polish in this series is absolutely second to none, which gives a lot of leeway over its shortcomings

Glad you're liking it! Maybe I'll aim to get this for Christmas. I just haven't been up for action games for quite a while, and have been sticking to (non-action) rpgs.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed the look and feel of the first Uncharted. Gears of War was really, really far from my taste, aesthetically. I think I disliked the look of Gears of War even more than Halo, parts of which I actually liked. So it was nice to have the fun gameplay in a more relaxing atmosphere and with characters and circumstances that didn't really irritate me, all with that lush green setting that is so inviting.
