my tated 22inch crt and my wide 32in tv have the same vertical height, so when playing vert games they are the same size. If Futari looks as good as DS in 360 mode than the LCD will be fine without tate.

Games like the RFA and DOJ I still prefer them on the tated CRT. Mostly because they look a tad pixelated on the LCD.

A little off-topic, but why do my Dreamcast and PS2 shmups look like shit on my LCD TV screen while they look just fine on my CRT screen? Will the Mushi Futari port suffer from the same issue?

Because they're made for 480i in 4:3 on a CRT tv through composite/s-video/component (at best), and these 360 versions are made for VGA/HDMI at 720p and widescreen.

There hasn't been any information contradictory to this game's region-freedom since that feature was originally announced, right? Think I'm gonna go ahead and preorder.

That explains it. Kind of irritating, but nothing I can really do about it. Ironically, my NES and Super Nintendo look just fine on my LCD screen.

Height-wise, they're about the same. The LCD has a wide screen, though, but the results are roughly the same sizewise. Same input, as well. The result is really blurry and makes the games harder to play. :P

It's been stated by Cave themselves, so unless they pull a fast one on us this late in the game (very doubtful), it's definitely been confirmed region-free.

Yeah, there's a particular reason I'm cab hunting.

It'd cost me just as much to get a nice TV with a Japanese Xbox.

I, uh, tate a 19" 720p HDTV. It sits in my room, and is probably the reason why my PS2 (which lives in my chilly basement, connected to a standard TV) isn't getting any love. I should make a commitment to playing some Thunderforce V... If only widescreen worked right with my PS2, then it can come upstairs and join my 360 on the fun.

I wonder if there was some easy way to TATE my LCD screen to try that out once I get Mushi Futari (haven't really touched my 360 in months, finally have a reason to!)

What no Ikaruga? It supports screen rotation... As does Trigger Heart Excelica, Raiden Fighters Aces, and Raiden IV...

I'm actually glad my HDTV is so small. It makes turning it easy. Also, am I the only one here who originally thought "tate" was TATE, an acronym meaning "Turn At The End"?

...and pronounces it "tah-tay" as if it were Japanese in origin (making the "acronym" an "backronym")?

So I'm new to the thread and am not going back through 25 pages to see if this has been covered. What are the chances the special edition will become available for pre-order on Play-Asia? Right now it's pending. Should I just pre-order the normal edition, or if I keep checking back do you think the special edition will be available?

Because you're not using a VGA cable/box with your DC or a set of component cables (utilizing 480p when applicable) with your PS2?

@bulletmagnet: I did indeed read that wonderful glossery, and it's good to know that I'm correct on the pronunciation aspect of things.

I still say that my "backronym", "Turn At The End" is pretty damn clever, though!!

@Mad Mage: I have no freaking clue about that, sorry. I just pre-ordered on Play-Asia back when it was first decided that is was region-free and went with it! Besides, I think my money situation is a bit too tight to splurge on the Special Edition. And that is really quite a shame... ;_;

Is there any reason you can't order it from NCSX. They've had the se from the beginning.

I think some people outside the US (most people on this forum) have had some issues with their shipping policies/prices, so might just be a bias against that. I've never ordered anything from them before so I can't say much about em.

The easiest way to "try it out" to see the difference, is to just leave your HDTV as-is, and just lay down on your side while playing. (Seriously... use a couch, beanbag, whatever.) These days I absolutely would not try to Tate a large HDTV, for any game.

Wow, this thread must be the mother of all derail threads. International shipping, Engrish.com, and now I hear it will be moved to "Hardware"...

Guess I'll go for the normal edition after all.
Is the LE just like the regular but with different cover art and a soundtrack packed in the same DVD case?
Or is the soundtrack in a separate case with everything wrapped in a nice fancy box which warrants the 50$ increase?

LE has a slipcase over the game and soundtrack. Still not worth it for me.

Yeah, as tempted as I am, I better hold off.

Looks like this edition has different cover art than the standard release.

Though on NCSX has them both looking the same

They posted limited edition art back couple weeks ago, but the subject kept change in this topic. So you probably wouldn't see it.

Yeah, I noticed that too. It kinda pisses me off.

On a side note, anyone know what the sales numbers were for Cave's PS2 releases? They seem awfully excited about Death Smiles sales numbers(under 50 thousand, I think).
