I thought he was Egyptian? But if he is Arabian, then that makes him Asian, for the Persian Gulf is part of Asia.LoneSage wrote:I'm pretty sure Ra's was Arabic or something in the comics, I could be wrong.

Umm...I get the impression that you and Lonesage are talking about completely different Batman comics. I don't think the older Batman comics have the same contitunity as Batman Year One. From what I heard, I thought that Batman Year One was also a retelling.postman wrote:Actually LoneSage, RAG wasn't Asian (didn't you remember the fight in Wayne Manor)........don't want to say too much to spoil things........
Just to comment on how the movie kept the plot close with the comic books, the "real" killer of Batman's parent was Joe Chill, as Batman Begins portrayed it. Hollywood rewrote Bat-history to make the Joker the killer for the first movie, but BB looks like it wants to follow the comics scriptwise. In comic lore (I think it was Year Two) Bruce, who has sworn never to use a gun to fight crime (becuase of his parents), does take up a firearm to kill Joe Chill......................
SPOILERS
but just as in the movie, someone else beats him to it. This person was the Reaper, who was a great enemy that they just left out of the movie completely (this is the unknown assassin of Joe Chill). After killing Chill, the Reaper proceeds to whoop Batman bad. I guess adding the Reaper to the movie would have been too much for the screenplay, so they just left him out alltogether. By the way, Todd McFarlane did the art for the reaper story, and it's a great read if you can track it down.
Egypt is not on the Persian Golf. It's on the North Eastern part of the African continent & South Eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea & a part of it also borders with the Arabian Sea & Asia.Tar-Palantir wrote:I thought he was Egyptian? Not all Arabs are Asians however. Algeria, Libya, Tunisia, Morocco are all in Northern Africa & are all considered Arabian-Muslims countries.
Other Arabian countries like Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, S. Arabia etc, are in Asia.
On the other hand, Iran (Persia) & Turkey are Muslim-Asian countries but the people them selves are not Arabs.

^^ Take it easy fella.
In the film Ra's Al Ghul is, spoilers:
Played by Liam Neeson, as we discover towards the end of the film. Ken Watanabe was just a decoy.
