YSFlight Shump Crafts

Post by Gespenst »

Anybody played YSflight?
For the shump crafts, I've found these:
R-9 Arrow Head, Vic Viper (lo poly ver), Lord British, Ikaruga (fastest craft in YSFlight?), T-301 Vic Viper -> from CEFP pack
Vic Viper (Gradius V/Air Force Delta Strike ver it seems), SD Vic Viper (ZOE ver.) -> from KAP pack
Any other shump crafts you got in YSflight?

FYI, YSFlight is a freeware flight simulator

It's a free flight simulator.

Flight and combat are just complex enough to be somewhat challenging.
It's no FSX, but simplified physics and "abstract" graphics make it easy to add new planes and maps.

Yeah, it's pretty small though, just 10megs without any mod/user packs (and constantly updated). (mine's grow into over 100megs due to mods )
"abstract" graphics
Eh? Some mod/user made planes have nice details

And would be good if other shump crafts, like Raiden Mk II, Rynex, Gauntlet, etc are flyable in YSFlight :D

Those look much better than the default planes. I wonder how well they fly. Do you have a download link?

First link is broken, here's a good link: http://www.h4.dion.ne.jp/~tyonibu/download/cefp.html

EDIT: Oh wow, dogfighting with the Ikaruga is a blast. Also, Superman.

The flight model is about as challenging as Ace Combat or HAWX.

I don't know about Ace Combat, but HAWX is waaaay simpler than this.

Heh, yeah. Ikaruga is insanely fast and any attempt to maneuver at high speeds results in instant blackout, so you have to actually plan what you're going to do (or learn to fly blind). Cool.

Ace Combat's physics' far more advanced than HAWX, but due to the Assistance-OFF feature in HAWX, you could pull some wicked maneuvers.

ACFA's White Glint also crazy fast, but less maneuverable.

Too bad most the VFs are useless...

What I meant is that it's more of a flying game and less of a flight simulator :P

It's still a fun game to play with friends, trying out all the goofy aircraft.

Yeah. Simple controls and awesomely hectic air combats making it addictive.

Am I the only one playing this with a flight stick [sadly, the only USB controller I have]?

For those who don't know:
-Ikaruga (attribute change version only): press open/close bomb bay button (default 1) to change polarity, hold 'retract variable geometry' to spawns up afterburner trail (disappears after the button released)
-Vic Viper (the ones with options): press up/down (or default turret aim up/down) to change double's firing angle, and try to raise the flap to turn on the force field (works in Lord British, too)
-R-9 : press down (turret aim down) until the red bar in the HUD raises to set the force pod in front of you instead of behind.
