Maybe mine wasnt so cheap then, i paid around 2000Y / $20 USD which includes shipping costs. I have seen it selling for $60 + though - Have heard it is quite difficult, but as long as it is fair/tough and not annoying/tough i think it should be fine. Is it a straight up shooter or does it have a strategy/RPG element kind of like Herzog Zwei, which i may have heard somewhere before? i hope it is a straight shooter - the kind of game i love
$20 is pretty good. $60 is way too much, even for a complete copy. It's not fair, that's why it's infamous. You'll die millions of cheap deaths once you get to the later levels. The final boss is effectively impossible. It's still fun to play, but don't expect a fair game. It's a straight shmup though, no strategy elements.DC906270 wrote:Maybe mine wasnt so cheap then, i paid around 2000Y / $20 USD which includes shipping costs. It's stupidly hard, and I believe you will get so frustrated with it that you will shot the cart with a shotgun or something.
If you enjoy the game, but find it that if it was easier it would be a lot more enjoyable, I'd like to recommend the MSX version of Undeadline, which IMO is much better than the Mega-Drive version, and is at least possible to finish.
You could also try the X68000 version, which seems to be much graphically improved port of the MSX version, so I bet it's awesome.

Shatterhand, how many times have you and I talked about the differences between all the UL games?Shatterhand wrote:If you enjoy the game, but find it that if it was easier it would be a lot more enjoyable, I'd like to recommend the MSX version of Undeadline, which IMO is much better than the Mega-Drive version, and is at least possible to finish.

At any rate, yes, the MSX version and the upgraded-over-the-MSX-X68k version are both better than the MD game, but I still like it. I can't beat it (no one can! NOBODY!!!), but I still get a kick out of it.

Just got Undeadline this morning, after playing it it seems like Elemental Master, but much harder. Havnt got past first level yet. Seems like it gets a LOT easier once you have sussed out and memorized each of the powerup icons. Part of the difficulty lies in the fact that the enemies actually seem to move about 25% quicker than you!!
Overall, i am quite chuffed with my purchase. The fantasy setting and the fact that you are a "knight on foot" rather than a spaceship is pretty refreshing. This will stand proudly next to Hellfire in my collection as one of the darned hardest games ever - i will probably be still trying to beat iit n 10 years time!

Word of advice: I'd focus almost entirely on the multi-knives weapon. When powered-up it can shoot in five directions and you'll often find that the angles at which it shoots are perfect for taking out enemy formations. It almost feels to me that the game was designed with this weapon in mind, and the rest (while effective in their own way) are sort of afterthoughts.
