no, R-Type Final would have been an awesome game had they removed the *slow down*.

the battle ship level only sucks because of the slow down.

I agree. Well said.

The "rock maze" stage in Space Megaforce. This is coming from a HUGE Compile fan, but that stage just felt completely out of place to me.

It would've been better if they had found a way to cut out the slowdown on that stage before releasing it. .
Yes. But then....I don`t really care. First level is really weak, but to seperate out one of the classic R-Type Levels, which even plays exactly like it`s former counterparts is not really pointing out why RTF isn`best of the series.

Level 6, in Gradius V?

I personally love this level, it's not easy... But I find it really exciting.
Overall I like all stages in Gradius V, only Stage 2 & 8 are really slow and boring. (Worst is the cutscene you can't skip)

But well, everyone (dis)likes other things... ;)

To the R-Type Final topic:
I have only tested the game to the 3rd Level. But I was kinda disapointed. When I saw the beginning level, it was really slow and nothing much happened. From what I've played so far. I only liked the third stage, but I think that the third stage is a little bit too boring too.
The worst thing was to me, that there often were no enemies on the screen. But I have just tested the game once, so I don't know if the later stages are more fun to me.

I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one who dislikes the third level.. I generally don't like large battleship levels. But the horrible slowdown in R-Type Final in that particular level, makes it 10x worse :(

The game (in my opinion) gets much better after level 3. And some of the later levels are not only good, but awesome!.

That stage should have just been a game by itself (with a reworked difficulty curve and most of the redundant parts changed up).

It's a Psikyo game. Check the other Psikyo games final bosses.....

The best example to me is Aerial Assault on SMS. Also goes for the Game Gear version, which is very different and also includes a 2 player coop
mode.

The first level is an everlasting boring waste of time time.
Level 2 better.
Level 3 This should've been the first level. The Ratings would've doubled.

OK, things pick up at the big red spaceship and the boss is good fun, but I still feel it ruins a bit of the game's flow.
I agree, actually, mostly because that whole level seems annoying to combo, whereas the rest of the levels flow much better (even though I haven't even started a serious score run on the game yet, I'm still trying to 1cc it frst)
