If they do release the LE, let us know here - I don't visit the YakYak forum all that often.

OK, will do. It's likely to be very limited and made to order so it should be something of a proper collectible unlike what most software houses call ltd editions these days...

Thanks for the preview link...looks about as nuts as I'd expected! I see he doesn't disappoint with his patented excess of audio mayhem either. :D

For some damn weird reason the Gridrunner Revolution article on Wikipedia has been marked for deletion:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gridrunner_Revolution

Can I ask that people who object to this please jot down a few words of support on the Talk page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Gridrunner_Revolution

Just some Wiki mod getting all high and mighty I guess ..........

Damn fine game too - easy to get into and challenging to play.

I tried the demo and loved it. Is this going to be on Steam like Space Giraffe? I'll surely get it on there if it does, otherwise I'll just buy it off Llamasoft.

I tried the demo and thought it was horrible. Everything felt dull and lifeless. The ships are too big for the small arenas. The firing mechanic that emphasizes "pretty patterns" over any sort of accuracy is unsatisfying.

$20 US is an insane asking price.

I have the full version and it's fantastic. Totally and utterly absorbing, especially as you progress to the harder levels. So incredibly relaxing yet frenetic at the same time.

10/10

I love the way that it just sucks you into the gameplay - at first it seems very simple, but after playing it for a while you realise that not only are you hooked but that there's also a lot more to it than meets the eye.

It's a work of genious (and I never use that term lightly!).

As for Steam - from reading YakYak it seems that it's planned but unsure when. I'd just download it off the Llamasoft site if I were you - you get it faster and more money goes to the coders. :)

I got it.

Oh my god, if you get the boost meter at like 1000 some of the sprites disappear and you can only see the grid highlight where your ship/sheepies are. It's fucking insane. And my highest score is over 100 million because of that.

Still love it. It's very fun and trippy.

Yay! It actually runs on my PC! It feels a tad laid back starting out compared to ++; but I'm definitely feeling it. :)

Did anyone buy this months EDGE magazine? Any chance of a scan of the Minter/GRR article for those not in the UK?

Can't seem to find a copy out here in the sticks. :(

A scan would of course be welcome. ;)

I see that Gridrunner Revolution is doing very well with the critics - various reviews linked from the Wiki page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gridrunner ... #Reception

Gamespot page and preview:

Also on Metacritic (don't forget to vote if you like it, or even if you don't :) ):

I did and thought it was disappointing as I mentioned on the YakYak forums. It was a 6 page article with 3 pages taken up with photos of Jeff, little in the way of GR promotion and not a single screen shot of any games. It was more like an article from a glossy Sunday supplement than an in depth piece about game development.

Any chance of some scans? I suppose they'll review the game next issue.

Hm. I never came into this thread really, but that book!

I would pay good money for that book. I really hope he makes it available eventually.

I tried to get the demo running on my Intel Mac in Windows XP but I always get the error message: can't initialize XACT engine. Anyone knows a solution for this?

Just a heads-up on this as it's just had a fairly substantial update which now has full support for online scoreboards. Download the latest version here:

http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/frontpage.php

The online scoreboards are fully integrated/viewable in the game and on the website:

http://www.llamasoft.co.uk/lsscore/lstables2.php

For anyone who hasn't bought it yet (or Space Giraffe PC), the prices have been halfed to $9.99 (approx. £6) or buy both for $14.99 (approx. £9). Similar update coming soon for Space Giraffe PC apparently.

Something tells me you got that score with the old bugged version. There have been 3 releases:

- original first release - this has a bug in it which means the boost counter has no limit. This is a bug, as when there are too many bullets on screen, graphics start to disappear

- the fixed version - this basically caps the boost counter to 250

- the current version (which supports online high scores)

Looks like you went from the original bugged version to the online high score version. The latest version will sync your top scores from the old versions when you connect, like Xbox Live. I think there will likely now be another new version which will wipe all scores (offline and online) and use a different save file which will be incompatible with the older versions (to stop people uploading bugged scores). There's no way that top score of yours is not from the bugged version.
