How do YOU pronounce Gradius? :)

This has raged on for years... how do YOU say it?

Rhymes with "radius" rather than "Thaddeus."
But the katakana (グラディウス) suggest that's
not how the creators would have said it, so
what do I know?

I realize the creators intended it to be "grad-ius" since they based it on the word "gladius", and since the katakana indicates that pronunciation, but even so I prefer the pronunciation "gray-dius". That's just how I said it when I first saw the name, before I learned how it ought to be said.

Gradius Gaiden's usage of two different pronunciations in the same game (male / female intro speech) made me settle on "rhymes with Latin for sword" and forget about it.

I say "dar-ius" rather than "dare-ius" for no particular reason.

Exactly like I pronounce "Gladius" in Latin but with an R instead of an L. Also, no English sounding R and/or U.

Darius is exactly the same.

Yea... while i freely admit that the correct way is probably "grad-ee-uss" (as the Gradius name is a spelling error of the word 'gladius'), I've always said "gray-dee-uss" since I was a kid, and I will probably never change. Hmph.

I say it the "wrong way."

In honor of the wrong pronounciation, I bring you the first interesting Google Images result for 'gray dius' (no quotes): Somehow, this appears to fit the criteria "gray" and "dius."
