Triggerheart Exelica XBLA problems

Post by Momijitsuki »

*split from this thread, thanks Ghegs*

It won't let me play the full version of Triggerheart Exelica when I'm not logged in, either. =<

Use the license transfer tool on the Xbox website to make it so you can play the game offline.

Yeah, there's a direct link to it in the "Hardware Section" in the Japanese XBox conversation. I got all of my XBLA games transferred to my JP Xbox, and I don't have to be online or whatever.

Triggerheart must have some bug, as I get the same problem on the console I originally purchased it on. When i first launch the game it still wants me to unlock it. I simply click the "buy full game" or equivalent option and at this point for some reason it realizes that i've already paid and it changes the menus accordingly. Strange stuff.

I sometimes have to do that once or twice to get the full game to unlock.

Sorry to keep off topic, but I didn't realize the Triggerheart problem was widespread. I have to download it every time I play it; both on the original console and a newer one. The licence tool didn't help, either. Sometimes, when I go back to the dashboard after playing it, my Gamerscore is set to zero and my profile is totally reset (no played games or anything). Even worse, it doesn't always save my high scores!

^ Mods should split this surely? It sounds like a really big issue that needs a thread (if there isn't one already?)...

EDIT: Post irrelevant now the split is done...

Seems the problem is fairly wide spread. I had the same problem where every time I started the game it asked me to unlock the full version even though I had purchased it upon it's initial release. I re-downloaded it and have been problem free for a number of weeks now. Never had any problem with the high scores though, that sucks!

Huh, I never had any trouble playing it, and my J-360 was offline 99% of the time the first 6 months I owned it due to lack of wireless adaptor. I wonder what the issue is? I don't think it saved any of my scores unless I played while logged in, but that seems like a separate problem.

This is one of the reasons I'll always prefer retail releases over XBLA/PSN/etc.

Did you initially purchase/unlock the game on a different 360 console than you are playing it on now?

Just asking because I recall as another example, one of the early XBLA Sega classic games (Sonic 2 or SOR2) had a similar bug, to what you're describing, if playing the full game while logged into Live from another 360 console. Some kind of glitch in the game's DRM, iirc, and that example pre-dated the existence of the Xbox.com DRM license tool.

Glitches in XBLA DRM are not unheard of, one of the first examples was completely broken DRM in the visual theme expansion dlc packs for Crystal Quest XBLA (one of the very first XBLA games); in that case players could not use the expansion packs at all, from any 360 except the console on which it was first purchased, even if you were logged into Live. I don't think that was fixed either until several years later when the Xbox.com DRM license tool finally came along.
