Is the world becoming crazy or what. DS in the west, and then what? Guwange with FIGS voices?
Very good piece of news, xp horis+normal TVs do have their own special flare. Glad I didn't buy a X360 just for futari.
Ok. Now: since all the DS aficionados have already bought a JX360 and the aforementioned game, how many copies will it sell? hope they won't use it as a guinea pig as well. They need fresh games.

THE wrote:If Cave want this game to be a success in the USA, they need to adapt it to the market. I'm just thinking from the setting/artworks it would well fit those 12 year old anime/goth chicks. If those gals don't have a x360 than compile it for the Wii or port it down to DSi. Or replace those girls with the soldier of Gears of War. It happended with Turrican on Megadrive which became Universal Soldiers. Then you can sell it to 14 year old Halo boys.

Just a question for those who have been playing MBL...

Don't you wish every character had options that controlled like Sakura's? I get the feeling that the guys at Cave had the original DS for a time period, and just thought about the tweaks they could do to the game. And I think Sakura's option control is probably what they thought was the best way to control in the game. I wish all the girls controlled like her.

I prefer the way Follett's option is controlled (very Guwange style). The option I least like is Rosa's (wtf is up with the lock on targetting backwards with her as well?)

Also, DeathSmiles appeals to the female demographic miles more than any other Cave shooter. At Insert Coin 09, both the original and MBL more often had ladies playing than gents. This, coupled with the fact that ranking level 1 is piss easy makes it a very good choice.

It would be great if you could have chosen your character, then chosen the option type. It's about the only thing I'd want to change in the whole game.

But then everyone would just use Follett with Sakura's options.

Today when I tried to start MBL on my 360, I got some message about XBox Live! and it wouldn't start. I have the latests 360 updates (i.e. I haven't been prompted to update my console today). I logged on to Live! and could then start MBL. Later on I was trying to start some replays, and they were grayed out. What the hell is going on? Anyone else notice anything like this crap?

I just played the 360 version online coop mode and it was running at like 10 frames per second. Has anybody played this game online without little to non lag? I just cant believe how terrible the lag was cause the person who I played with is on my friends list and we hardly have any problems playing online games. Does the game just have bad programming for the online coop component?

Where is your friend located? I was playing with some other people in SoCal with no issues.

Emphatic, what happened to you, happened to me. But I realized I wasn't signed in. Then everything was fine.

Anyone else notice that DS doesn't ask you to sign in? You always have to do it from the dashboard first.

The CAVE blog has an update, but Google isn't very helpful. It mentions a 1.1 DLC coming this spring, would that be DS MBL 1.1?
I really wonder if anyone would pay for a 1.1 mode of MBL. I've never once played 1.1 original label.

Maybe you should try it before you bash it, 1.1 is really enjoyable. I always played 1.1 over MBL because of the way it handled things.

1.1 has some unique controls to it. You can control your option placement by holding down a button when you move. This is very handy for absorbing the star-shaped bullets, which appear on the very first stage if you choose difficulty 3. I prefer 1.1 to Black Label, since I really enjoy the bullet absorbing mechanic right out of the gate.

btw, am I the only one who wishes there was a difficulty setting between 3 and 999 (and not just in Black Label)? 3 takes a while to ramp up, however 999 is just silly for my current skill level.

I thought everyone preferred 1.1 to the original DS.

The option to control your familiar with a button(or the right stick) is a neat addition, not to mention being able to power up every 100 skulls, if you wish.

I like MBL because of Sakura and the Ice Palace, but I would love a 1.1 mode of it, so I could have better control of the other girl's options. It's too hard for me to get the suicide bullets using them, without the extra control over the familiars.

I think I'll pass considering its a pain to get those JP points. That and I probably wouldn't play it and I really could still be playing DS with all its modes. I'm sure many will pick it up, but I really wonder how far Cave can milk this. How many additional modes are people really willing to pay for in a single game? I guess it's not as bad as BGM for Otomedius

EDIT: Thinking about it having Sakura in 1.1 would be dope, but it would probably still cost more than the 200pts I have lingering on my j account so I won't get to experience that. I can't see see myself spending another 20-25 bucks to get the equivalent of $15. Hopefully the next DLC will be cheap for everyone else who decides to pick up. If it were 1200pts I think that would be a bit of a rip.

You really should. The controls are annoying at the beginning (both analog sticks and firing with the shoulder buttons) but once you get used to it it's a great game.
For me it's DS > DS 1.1 > DS MBL.

I don't play 1.1 because I like to play on the cab but I also don't like that I'm at a huge disadvantage doing so.

^^this. I do like however that this gives me a reason to pick this game up should I ever get rid of my cabs.
