SNES Peripheral Question

I know this doesn't have to do with shmups, but it's a general question:

Out of curiousity, would the Hudson Super Multitap (the peripheral that looks like Bomberman's head) work on an American SNES? Are the controller ports the same between the Super Famicom and American SNES?

Yes it will work, I used to have the exact same multi-tap- US and JP controllers and accesories are the same.

IIRC, the PAL pads and system are hacked somehow to create an incompatibility, but yeah, the US and Japan ones are the same.

IIRC you can't use US controllers on a EU machine, you can however use EU controllers on a US machine.
