What do I need for my astro to change 8 wire to 5 wire?

Post by neorichieb1971 »

I got some RE plates for my LS-32's to fit in my Astro city cabinets and they fit fine. However, only one of the cabs had a 5 wire joystick, the other one has wire connectivity for the 8 wire Quick Disconnect type of joystick.

I don't have all the tools like soldering iron, crimpers and such so what is the easiest way to install my LS-32's in the Astros with off the shelf parts?

I'm suspecting I will require new wiring from the molex 12 pin connector that already has the 5 pin joystick connector already on it.

The only other option I can see is to buy another LS-32 with the 8 way wiring.

Which way would you go?

Buy a LS-32-01 instead. It's way less work, and works flawlessly.

umm thats his problem one cab needs ls32s while the other needs ls32-01 .. just solder 4 wires to the jst connector and crimp some connectors on the end(haven't got a pinout to hand) for the directions and daisy chain the ground from the jst to the spare pin on each of the directions

Some of the cabs on the IC09 order had LS32s wired in with adaptor looms so they could connect to the 5pin connector in the cab.

The easiest option would be to simply buy LS32s for the quick disconnect cab (rather than the 5pin LS32-01), or see if someone is up for a swap.

ignore what i said i got confused too.. just buy one of those jst connectors with the five wires attached then wire it to the 4 direction wires from the cab.. then you just need to attach a ground and you'll be done!
