Probably the same thing that sets Dragon Blaze, Strikers 2, Strikers 3, and Gunbird 2 apart from each other. Zero Gunner 2s don't come along every day.

No, Psikyo's formula evolved from Strikers II to Dragon Blaze. This looks like a remix, and that's why I'm asking.

If Mushi Futari 1.5 enjoys much higher sales given it's region-free, I guess it's possible that Cave might consider a re-release of Death Smiles down the road.

I'm in the same boat with a lot of people. I bought a Japanese Xbox 360 and now feel conflicted. I love Death Smiles, but it's just ONE game, and it's absurd to own an entire system for just one piece of software.

The other side of the coin: If Mushi does NOT sell more than projected expectations, ESPGaluda II, Ketsui, etc. might go back to region-locked. I guess we should keep our Japanese units for now.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I read it on kotaku. Preordered on PlayAsia in a heartbeat.
I was wondering... they even said that they'd think about LOCALIZING other shmups such as ESPII if the feedback was good.
How many copies do you think they'd realistically sell? I guess DS's stunt already put them in a good mood, since there was a (reportedly) huge shortage of pieces shortly after release.
I also like how it was published on kotaku. There's loads of kids there who preordered it just for the buzz and they will probably creditfeed it until the end, say that it was cute but limited and too easy and will never touch it again.
But fairly said, they'll help our cause
Buy people, buy! Mushi2 is gooooooD!

Watch when they find out there are waaaayy more people on the leaderboards than the the amount of copies they shipped out.
that is impossible though, as connecting to xbox live gets you banned if modded.

Buy this game even if you don't have a 360, as a payment towards all those hours spent in MAME playing older Cave titles.

Hm. Well, the scoring's way different, but I don't care about scoring in Mushi games. The graphics are a lot better, but that's only to be expected and not especially important. There's another character, and two modes to each character, and they're a lot cooler than in Mushi 1, so that's a plus. The music isn't TOO much better, or even different, but it IS a bit of both. The last boss is supremely difficult, as the kiddies on youtube enjoy pointing out several dozen times a day. There's an arrange mode. I like to call it Takumi Mode. Look it up. Never mind, I did it for you. Arrange footage doesn't start for about a minute. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG0pyFWlqxw.

Uhhh...anyone else, I'm tired of talking about a game I don't have yet. Rather go play strikers 2. Not mars matrix.

It's not, it's called using one copy on multiple accounts.

I think it would go without saying that pre-orders will likely have spiked a significant amount today :P Probably a 1000% increase from an average day or more.

Wow, seeing how the thread grew 2 pages between the time I went to bed last night and checking it for the first time this afternoon, I knew it had to be good news.

I've ordered this from yesasia to give my support (still boycotting play-asia, Elixir and I will never see eye-to-eye on this :P).

And I'm not really worried about overheating issues for my NA 360, this is how I run mine:

Warranty be damned, it only cost me CAD$100 on craigslist.

That's much better. Do they wait to charge you until an item ships at NCSX, or do they charge you as soon as you order? 'Cause I'm fine with that price (not to mention I have enough for an HRAP EX if I get it at that price), but I'd still go for the better deal if Play-Asia offers it.

Is Black Label stock with the game by the way, or is that intended to be DLC?

Also for that matter, can the DLC card that comes with the game be used on a US account, or is it required to access the japanese marketplace and as thus a separate Japanese account would be required?

I ordered today, and Paypal says I've been charged. I'll make sure my bank corroborates tomorrow, but it looks like it's when you order.

The chances of that happening are pretty much a guaranteed zero, where Deathsmiles is concerned.

It's funny seeing people complaining that they now wish they hadn't bought a Japanese 360, for three reasons. First up, there are more games than just Deathsmiles that are worth buying. Not many, but some. Secondly, if you bought the console purely because of Deathsmiles, why moan? And thirdly, if you just bought it on a whim without thinking about how things might pan out in the future... well, if you've that much cash to waste, maybe you could throw some my way.

Wrt NCSX, be warned that their delivery is far slower than Play Asia's - it can take between three and four weeks for stuff to reach me in the UK from NCSX. Shipping charges are a bit more expensive than P-A, too. On the upside, customer service if things go wrong is slightly better, in my experience.

In other news: there are still people who trust Yes Asia?

Non-Japanese consoles aren't worth owning in this hobby. You're paying for your access to them without waiting on the never-never for them to be localized or emulated.

All right, good to know. I'll wait for Play-Asia's price before I go for NCSX's.

I was going to get Mushi Futari no matter what. I'm not made of money, however, so I have to take what I can get. It'd be nice to get my hands on a J-360 eventually, though.

I've been wondering if there will be a "best" version of Deathsmiles like Mushi and Ibara on PS2. If this was the case perhaps it would be region free, plus have the DLC on the disc. It's not likely but you never know. I'm not a fan of DLC as if your machine/harddrive gets screwed you've got a lot of japanese text to get through to switch/download again...

If Futari is region free it will be getting played on my PAL machine as I'm a bit paranoid about the whole overheating thang ( I got my japanese 360 off Gumtree for £100, launch model - during the winter it heats the whole flat...).

Kind of off topic but it's Cave who are going to try out region free games, not 5pb. My guess is that Dodonpachi and Ketsui (if it's ever released) will be region locked.

1. Hooooly shit.
2. Crow eaten. (My fiancé is gonna shit a brick.)

BTW, I believe NCS doesn't charge you ahead of time for pre-orders if you use a credit card for payment. (I just...wish I didn't live in NYS.)

I've been using them for years and have never had a problem with them after dozens of pre-orders - they're slower than Playasia, but I can't complain when shipping's free.

I find them to be very dependable in my country. It's not entirely play-asia's fault but rather Canadian customs which goes tax-happy on anything shipped from play-asia. Yesasia has a shipping hub in my country, so anything delivered to my home is considered to be domestic mail and not subject to duties.

So while you people from UK and NZ may have complaints, the situation is different in Canada and IMO makes yesasia the better choice. The prices are sometimes higher, sometimes lower, but at least there are never any nasty surprises. And on the one occasion where I lost a package, they sent me a new one with no questions asked. They're good enough in my book.
