The Steampunk Arcade Cab!

Post by Specineff »

Remember the Steampunk Laptop?

Someone else made a steampunk arcade cab, complete with "needle" voltage meters, green "plasmid" lights and even vintage stained copper frame. The thing reminds me of BioShock for some reason.

Vintage gaming good!

All that work and he just tacks on an X-Arcade. Shame.

Ack, I failed to notice the X-arcade.

Maybe because he spent more time on the other parts of the cab?

Even without the X-Arcade it still looks stupid. Guys like this are why that dedicated "these mame cabinets look like shit" website exists.

I absolutely love it - the idea of a raised panel is fine but you can tell it's an x-arcade from a mile away due to the shape not following cabinet lines, and it's the only thing dragging it down. Best thing of all - he didn't mangle an original cabinet to do it.

Especially someone who plans every little detail out to build something unique as this. It's really a shame.

Sure would be nice to see this cool one-off custom-made steampunk arcade cab in person at the California Extreme show next year. Yeah, there are folks who are into the steampunk genre complete with steampunk conventions to attend. ^_~

The design on that cab is fantastic. The controls go without saying, but the cab as a whole is extremely well done. It's not difficult to see that this guy works professionally with special effects, design or something similar.
