No solid promise but I'm working on fleshing out my next hackery project so I may if time permits have a working 360 to 240i jamma interface that will be plug and play for the cabs at the meet. It's along the lines of what Emph built to play DOJ EX on his egret II.

Hottt.

Things aren't looking up for me and the meet, but I'm seeing what I can do.

Bummer - what's up? Something else planned? Just do a Doors and break on through to the other side (of the WI/IL state border)...

Wow, that was cheesy.

Updated the first post with scoring contest info. There will be a mystery midnight title, non-shmup, short high scoring contest happening as well. Looking forward to seeing you all and I wish this was happening sooner!

Nah, it's lookin' to be transportation. I'm still getting rides to school and taking my parents' cars to work. No idea if I'll be able to make it to CHI-TOWN.

Also, that was an incredible pun =P

Midnight? Will it also double as a sobriety test? ;)

How many people are coming into town on Friday? I was on the fence between Friday and Saturday when looking at bus tickets; I ended up going with Friday.

Yeah, a test to make sure no one is sober by then.

I will be there Friday with one or two other friends.

I think there will be about 5-10 people in on Friday night.

The midnight score contest will double as a sobriety test - but its there mostly because drunken (or slightly buzzed) gaming is good.

New to the forum (and Chicago, at that) and definitely not hardcore enough to pose any sort of challenge to anyone attending this meetup, but I'd like to attend with my girlfriend and one other friend if there's still room. Also, if you're short on TVs, I may be able to offer up a 42" HD.

Two more things:

My friend is coming down from northern Wisconsin, so if anyone in that general area or somewhere along the way needs a ride, that might be do-able.

Also, is wherever this is happening easily accessible by train? I drink like a fish, so driving home probably isn't the best idea.

Yup, very easily accessible by train (right off the Belmont Red Line stop). I know met3llica needs a ride from WI - hit him up and bring him down and you'll have already made a friend by the time you get here.

And anyone with a Red Dwarf quote in their sig is more than welcome.

Would anyone who is coming be interested in getting my Genesis Flashcart and writer? Not using it so much anymore. If you need anymore details it can be discussed in PM.
EDIT: Just put it up on Craigslist so you might want to get back to me quick.

Moving ever closer to the meet...

Got the prize for the Midnight scoring contest today. :) The Midnight scoring contest will be sponsored by Classic Arcade Gaming DC, so those savvy enough might be able to figure the title out. Should be an inebriated good time.

met3llica - did you ever hook up a ride? I may have a hook up if you didn't.

We'll only have three cabs at the meet - the fourth one fell through, but that works as I don't think I'll have the space in here anyway. It looks like I may need a few TVs, so those of you who have more "portable" sets, like the one Ayanami brought last meet, bring them if you can. :)

i can't believe i'm fucking saying this, but i don't think i can go. it just won't work out with work and school this time. oh, well, i'm young, and you guys are all not old enough that you probably won't die by next year, so maybe if monsieur boom decides to have another meet, i'll be able to plan waaay ahead and make it next time :)

I will be pming everyone in the new thread with my addy, so please RSVP here if you need it. Also, if you need directions or recommendations for stuff in town, don't be afraid to hit me up. Been here a while, know the area rather good.

gunbird18 just let me know that he picked up Out Zone, so add that to the pcb stash.

Herm... could've sworn I already posted my RSVP, but I'm not seeing it here. Definitely RSVP-ing for 3 (maybe 4). I'll bring along a TV since you're short. And since you don't have enough TVs. UNSUBSTANTIATED INSULTS!!!

I've had some changes in plans, it's looking like it will be myself +3, the extra 2 being some friends that are moving into chicago that weekend just a few block from drbooms.
I have a small tateable tv I can bring, and if I'm able to get it finished a nice new arcade stick, probably from playstation but I'm willing to wire it for something else if anyone would like.

Since it's a week away, I suppose I should RVSP. Count me in!

I'm seriously looking forward to some more Caravan shooting. Plus, I'll bring a few Saturn games along. Maybe Fantasy Zone, Konami MSX Antiques Collection, and Twinbee Deluxe Pack?

What time do the festivities start again?

PCB pile update:

Pink Sweets
Strikers 45 II

Plug and play JAMMA to PC/360 interface.
Deathsmiles
DOJ/BL
Raiden IV
Anything in mame though mostly the Raizing/psikyo/classic cave stuff is currently on my netbook.
Touhou if people really want to play on a cab..lol.

Does anyone want some non shmups stuff, I have neo-geo/SFII:NG.

Do I need to bring the tuppergun for utilizing the xm29 for more pcb goodness?

Are you set on Candy cabs Dr.Boom? I know we had talked about maybe bringing my EII, I'd rather not(as it requires trading my vehicle for the weekend) but I saw one of the cab's had backed out.If I did bring it I have absolutely no room for a dolley so I would need help bringing it up the steps into your place.

Also WHO IS BRINGING THE PORK!!!!! Tell me that MMP is gonna be there, and you'll have a nice glass of scotch or a beer with your name on it.

Gladly. 8)

If mrtie is bringing his Strikers II, I'll leave mine at home, so I'll bring along:

Feveron
Donpachi
Dragon Blaze
Strikers I

My Strikers 99 is not working for some reason. It either won't fire up at all, or it'll run for a couple minutes and then glitch up. I'll bring it anyway, hopefully someone at the meet will know what the problem is.

As much as I really, really wanted to go to this thing again. Unfortunately, I can not attend. I am broke as a joke and need to work that weekend to get some loot.

If something happens to suddenly change my money situation, then I will be there.
