I got 599,900 today, beat that!

Sven666 is playing on PS2, maybe he knows the answer.

Mike told me all versions should be fine, as long as you select the Arcade mode (or difficulty corresponding to arcade, I dunno, don't have the other versions. Could someone savvy in the Strikers II version differences say what people should choose? I would guess normal's fine).

I still have a lot of potential for improvement. I hope I can realize some of it by Sunday.

Need to stop forgetting that those bombs DO actually exist and I CAN use them to solve my bullet problems on occasion.

not quite, it seems better to just nm/nb the first four stages (use powerdowns and maybe one bomb on the fourth stage if need be) so you have more resources later since you /get/ more resources later

lgb - MANGO SENTINAL - 675.300 - 1-6 - F5U - MAME

stage 5 and 6 seem easy for the most part, less so for 6 with those placements at the mid-boss with the large constitution, argh (I swear I've used like 2 bombs and supershots out the ass, they didn't even flash)

also gliath is my favorite boss and stage

Nice even number. Missed a chunk of 1k-2k gold pieces right before the end boss on 1-7. Just wanted to get to him. That and my timing was off...not that one place would do much.

Slowly piecing together what to do where...

DoubleThink - The Team With No Name - 550,400 - 1-5 - Ki84 - MAME

I get the feeling that this game actually discourages dodging. Maybe it's because bullet speed varies along with angle, creating impenetrable patterns at random. Or maybe because boss patterns also vary even when reaching them in exactly the same fashion. Or maybe it's the jerky movement and disproportionately large hitbox. Still, if I can just make it to stage 6 and get an extend...

I find this really puzzling, actually. I mean everything Psikyo made before Strikers II (Strikers I, Gunbird) looks great, and everything that came after it (Gunbird 2, Dragon Blaze!) does, too. It's amazing that the game with the most balanced gameplay in their portfolio is also the one that looks the worst. Gotta love those word arts at the plane select screen, though.

"arcade" mode refers to the screen setting. in the japanese ps/sat versions (don't know ps2) you have the choice of 3 screen modes: original 1 (yoko) , original 2 (yoko wobble) and arcade (tate). because the patterns are significantly different in yoko mode it should be clear that tate (eg arcade, like mike sad) mode is to be used.

only *after* selecting the screen mode one can select a difficulty. the home version has 7 levels from "monkey" (lol) to "very hard", it defaults to "normal" (5).
the pcb on the other hand has 4 levels from "easy" to "very hard", it also defaults to "normal" afaik.

if one assumes that psikyo added 3 easier levels (monkey, child, very easy - those folks had a sense of humor!) *below* the pcb easy level, i think that ps/sat normal is indeed identical to pcb normal.

and btw:

LFO - Gothloli Luftwaffe - 861,500 - Ki84 - 1-7 - PS Arcade Default

1-7 boss is nuts =O Is there a good play up on super-? I think I'll need it if I want to loop this game. Which I'm dangerously close to, dangerously quickly >_> What do you guys say, should I forgo looping it for a higher score and beat DOJ first instead, or just say Hell With It and go for it =)

Sorry team, I just don't get on with this one. Power-up and you don't have time to find the gaps, don't power-up and you get overwhelmed by enemies you're too feeble to kill. There goes my upper mid-range average. :x

Best game on the STGT history ever. I haven't played this for so long, I had forgotten how fucking awesome this game is. I'd rather play this for 2 weeks than Battle Garegga. I didn't had much free time this week, I wish I had played it more.
