My farewell to shmups.com(I have h1n1(maybe(not really)))

Post by crithit5000 »

I have almost all the symptoms, should I be repenting on my deathbed or just drinking shittons of Nyquil? I'm leaning more towards the Nyquil option, but feel free to sway my opinion...

Seeing a doctor is really only viable if I get some of the more severe symptoms. Even if it is h1n1, it's still just a flu. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

If you've got asthma, and are a teenager, and have AIDS, you may be in for a rough time. Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much.

A close friend got diagnozed with h1n1 this summer, and it's ridiculously harmless. The normal flu is way worse.

Please don't buy into the hysterical hype. Unless you are an infant, elderly or have a compromised immune system you have nothing to worry about. Drink lot of fluids get plenty of rest and get over it (both literally and figuratively. )

Oh, I'm not. It's just funny how the people I know are ready to ship me off to the emergency room over what may be a mild flu.

P.S. NyQuil is the shit. I usually don't bother with OTC medication, but that stuff is amazing.

Drink lots of fluids, keep your fever down, and avoid people. That's about it unless you are a high-risk person.

My friend's kid had a fever hit 105.7 deg F before they got it under control, and that's kinda scary when it's your kid.

Good grief! As someone who's hit that level of temp, I can relate.

But was the kid okay? Once you get so high, long term side effects can start kicking in, like brain damage.

I think he's ok. He's back at school and everything... but it's public school so it's hard to say for sure.

btw - Normal flu is savage. It really can kill you.
What we usually describe as bedridden flu is actually a bad cold. The real flu will drop you like a stone and destroy your core.

EDIT:- We've already taken the precautions over here

My wife got the h1n1. She was on bed for a few days, but it was nothing serious indeed... not worse than a bad flu. I stayed at her side all the time and I didn't get it.

It's one of the mildest strains of flu for ages, and the elderly are often immune (it's very similar to one from ~50 years ago (can't remember the exact date))
The cold one of my frends got afterward (post viraly, i.e cos it screwed their immune system) was about 5 times worse, that layed you up for 2 weeks H1N1 just gives you a fever for a few days.

the issue with swine flu was not the risk of imminent death, but how contagious it was. imagine if (worst case scenario) there had been a period where 30% of all people in your country were off work during any given period :!: schools, hospitals, emergency services... you get the idea

I'd recommend going to the doctor just to be safe but then I saw he's in the US. We Americans don't visit the doctor until someone hauls our dead body to the emergency room and throws it on the floor.

Even then we'll write in our wills that we only went because our loved ones were a bunch of pussies.

Or the other reason. The one that involves remortgaging your house to afford medical treatment over there :D .
