Now, see, you're killing me, here. Please stop. It's simply agonizing.Kaspal wrote:you should be able to do the downgrading/ flashing with Custom FW with a mac, since those programs ARE NOT designed to run on windows, but on the PSP, all you have to do its place them onto your MS in the right places (read the readme) and follow instructions.boagman wrote:Heh. Well, I'll put it this way: I use a Mac. If that doesn't explain a lot, I don't know what more I can possibly say.Vokatse wrote:I'd help you, but I'm in New Hampshire...and you might be a child molester...
It's really not that hard to do...
My current Devhook allows me to go up to 3.01, I believe. I did not install this, nor was I able to do so when I tried. Had to take my PSP, memory stick, etc. to a friend's place who is computer-knowledgable, but isn't familiar with the PSP stuff at all, nor gaming in general.
And a big old, "Eww!" on the child-molester thing. That's...just sick. But, in the spirit of fairness, since the possibility exists: if someone can do this stuff for me via laptop and wants to meet in a public, safe place for them, I'm very cool with that. Honestly: I just want to make the PSP do what I'd like. That's it. Really.
now, im not sure, but the only thing that MIGHT stop you from doin it so in a mac, would be the MS file system (FAT16/32)... if a mac doesnt recognizes it natively, then, runnin a win emulator would do the job... and thats it, within 10-30 mins, oyou should be enjoyin all the goods on your PSP with no problems.
i got a couple of questions for you tho:
1) what FW version do you have right now?
2) if its the 1.50 (i think you said you have a version of devhook?), you can use the latest devhook version (0.52) to run FW 3.03 ... AND best of all, you can upgrade to CFW 3.03 OE-C directly (you can still enjoy the advantages of FW 1.5 plus the additions of FW 3.03 like the PSX emulator)
I did exactly what the readme said to do, and it didn't work. I may be computer-stupid, but I am pretty able to follow simple instructions, and that's what uber-pissed-me-off about the whole thing. It just wasn't working, no matter what I did. Now, if I can't download and place something as simple as Devhook, can I really expect myself to be able to download and place emulators and what-have-you?
To answer your questions:
1. My PSP is a 1.5 FW, and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Got it brand new, locally, and I know where there are more to be bought, still. I promised myself that when Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins came out, if I could find a brand new 1.5 FW PSP, that I'd go ahead and invest in the system, for the purposes of buying and playing the UMDs (UG&G, EEE, Darkstalkers, MGS:PO, so far), and emulating things like Viewpoint and Pulstar for the Neo-Geo. So far, I've *barely* been able to upgrade the firmware via Devhook so that I can play the games I've bought (the exception, of course, being Darkstalkers, which was a release title). Emulation is way, way, way, way, *way* off in the horizon, not even visible at this point.
2. I honestly think that you're underestimating my computer-stupidity. There's no way for me to understand what you're suggesting when I can't even get something as simple as a step-by-step installation of Devhook onto a memory card. Couple that with my fear of bricking my system, and I'd honestly prefer to pay someone else to do it first. I paid to upgrade most recently, and if someone local were to help me out, I'd pay them, too. Heck, if someone wanted to help me do this crap, I'd gladly give them a brand new (factory-sealed) copy of Darkstalkers, if they wanted it.
Not trying to be a twit, here, but I don't really know where to turn.
