I got Thunder Force IV & Hellfire for £4 today for MD...

Post by Danny »

I brought Thunder Force IV & Hellfire for £4 (because of a speical offer my local Gamestation are having) today for my Megadrive and all I can say is... WOW!

Thunder Force IV is trully f**king awsome and Hellfire is pretty darn good to. My favourate before I got these today for my megadrive was Zerowing (yes I did buy it before the whole "all you're base!" thing) and I thought that was a pretty darn solid shmup but I feel TF4 wins the "best shmup" crown now.

Saying that I did also buy more megadrive games. I finaly got a copy of Sonic and Knucles even though I own Sonic Jam on the sega saturn. I also brought another 6 or 7 games but the two that intrested me most were comic zone (awsome game) and another shmup which i've not tried yet called Gynoug which judging from the back of the box, the graphics look awsome, I'll play it after I complete TF4 and HF :)

Anyway I thought I'd declare my love for the sega medadrive (last count I had over 50 games for it, proberbly more now) and it's shmups.

Play Gynoug now, it's fucking ace.

Gamestation is a seriously good place for old games. My complete boxed Gynoug cost me £2.99 and last week I got another copy of Sagaia on the Master System, boxed with instructions for £1.99.

Yeah I've just played Gynoug and you're right, it's brillant. It's very weird I also paided jusy £2.99 for my complete copy of Gynoug and I'm sure this game is the megadrive's only "manic" shmup... I mean just look at the friggin' second level sub-boss for crying out loud lol, crazy bullet paterns specialy since this game is on the megadrive.

I've played this game a little actualy, it's very tough and I can't blame cheapness either because of the weapon select system it has going on for it. I wish the ship was a little smaller and faster, but hey we can;t have everything right?

Yeah I love the music from TF4, I personaly belive it's some of the best stuff put out on the megadrive.

Oh yeah... I finaly worked out the power-up system on Gynoug by reading the manaul. Man it's been a long time since I've read a megadrive game manual, almost felt alien because of the unique way they are set out compaired to other "system's" gaming manuals.
