Just shows how low the expectations are.
So that video's not real? If so I got fooled for about 20 minutes! Wow!

Luy, Blazing Star wasn't made by SNK. I think the last shmup SNK developed was Last Resort... I may be mistaken though.

the game looks kinda bland, but if it comes to XBLA its a sure buy from me... but if its released as a disk, locked... no way.

It'll be playable at the AM Show on the 17th and is on Taito Type X Hardware. It says something vague about Xbox Live Arcade as well.
I can't help thinking Alfa System are making it.
You'd think they could at least get the textures to line up properly before they put up official screenshots. Good lord do those backgrounds look awful.

Technically, their last one was Star Radish. Also, the Twinkle Star Sprites sequel on PS2, if that counts.

looks promising (already better than deathsmiles 2), gonna be real interesting to see how it plays, so far kinda looks like a straight ripoff from shikigami 3 except the comco counter..

No one likes fighters with one-hit-kill combos, 'cuz they're cheap. I suspect if it has special moves & combos like a fighter, the bosses will have similar combo-style attacks. How frustrating would it be to try 35-times in a row to kill a boss with a specific combo & die EVERY SINGLE TIME because you couldn't pull off the move before the one-hit-kill combo the boss pulled was flawless & you failed?
Seriously, this could turn out to be kinda cool...

I realize Taito Type X comes in different hardware configurations, but I didn't realize they put out a Pentium 60 with Monster 3d variation.

Speaking about shmups with fighter-eske combos i believe that the PC doujin game Galax already has that system for its secondry shot.

Boss looked pretty boring, honestly. I was expecting... nothing really.
But I guess KoF fans will buy it.

All we know at this point is that this game is guaranteed to be better than KOF XII.

Looks so shitty I thought it was running on a cellphone when I saw the screens.

"They should at least make 100K to have a good life"

Player characters are Athena and Kyo Kusanagi.
The first boss seems to be an evil version of Athena and the second is Orochi Iori (Kof'97).
The future is 2D

It looks like the game utilizes a similar charge system to the later Psikyo titles (Gunbird 2, Strikers 1999, Dragon Blaze).

I could forgive the weak 3-D graphics and so-so boss battles, but the enemies in the levels just are so out of place it's nuts. How is any of that supposed to be relative to the KOF series? Just seems like a slapped together dojin really.

I think the graphics look just fine, but the slowdown is weird. In the longer vid, check the beginning of both stages - there's almost no enemies on screen but the action still seems slower. 4:40 is a good example.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Alfa? Interest piqued. Still looks fun, either way.
