Sold!

The funny thing... I actually managed to have "get get" and "catalogue" both in my post and had to edit it. I think this forum is getting to me.

I was refreshing my memory on the results of this poll and for some reason it stuck me as odd that Pink Sweets rated so highly. Anyone else surprised that it did so well at #5?

Given that most people voting probably haven't even played the game, no, it's no surprise.

People want unported Cave material without knowing if they even like the game.

Rumor told me that there are arcades in Japan.

And the likelihood of finding Pink Sweets in your local arcade is...?

I suppose it correlates somewhat with the likelihood of your local arcade being in japan

EDIT: Pink Sweets is one of the ones I really want, even if I've never played it. I've played Ibara and I've played Recca, and I see bits of both in Pink Sweets. (which is exciting)

Something like 25% of voters were foreigners, it would be no surprise to me that half of the Pink Sweets voters were too.

That's about right. I played it when it was in London Casino arcade for a few months, but didn't click with it. Painfully hard after the first couple of stages.

Even if people haven't played it, why shouldn't they vote for it? It's not a poll on which is the best Cave game ever, it's a poll on which Cave game people want to play the most. I for one fail to see the logic in voting for a game that already works fine in Mame.

Indeed. It's completely retarded. It won't even be as good as it is in MAME either, unless they add some new modes, which I doubt they will given the limited income from most XBLA titles.

Fixing the counterstop seems like a pretty straightforward thing to do . . .

I still feel like all shmups feel a bit floaty with the controls in MAME, but maybe it's in my head. I've got vsync off and such but it still feels just a bit floaty. I think it's great to be able to check out titles and such... and to play things that are otherwise so difficult to get a taste of. But to me it's still PCB>port>>MAME unless they really screw up the port.

What input method are you using for MAME? I'm not noticing any floaty controls here. Some USB input devices introduce additional lag on some systems. Try another controller.

I'm using a USB Saturn pad... a real one. Are they known to be authentic in feel?

I've read that some people have had lag issues using those pads on some systems. Not just on emulators, but also on PC games too. I have a USB>PS2 adaptor and on my laptop it lags like nobodies business, but works fine on my desktop PC. The new 360 Street Fighter 4 fightpads work really well if you're looking for an alternative.

I think the post was making a justification for voting in favor of Pink Sweets even if one hadn't played it. The Mame part was referring to Guwange working fine on that front.
