Raiden II Fabtek cabinet joystick repair.

Post by MathU »

The only arcade in my town has long since lost all my hope and respect (the day they got rid of Galaga was the end).

Well the other day I was going to a movie and they had an original 1993 Fabtek Raiden II cabinet. My heart nearly skipped a beat, and it certainly made my weekend. The only problem is its joysticks are unresponsive. I would love to pay for their repair (because I really doubt its owner cares a whole lot about it). Does anyone know how much a simple joystick repair/replacement usually costs?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

is it just a bat-top joystick? if so it's probably a HAPP competition. a brand new one will cost you about $10.

you might want to ask them how much they want for the whole cab. you might be able to get a good deal on it.

I'm not sure what you're talking about, but here are some pictures.

And no I'm not interested in buying the machine. I want it fixed so more people in this city can experience an actual 2D arcade shooter.

Yep, those are Happ Competition bat-top joysticks, MathU, along with Happ push buttons as well. When they are in brand new condition, it will take a while for them to get "broken in" and more comfortable to use/play with. ^_~

I personally haven't seen an original Fabtek licensed Raiden II cabinet in a long time -- the last time I reckon seeing one was back in early 2000. ^_~

That's just a regular JAMMA cab with a Raiden II conversion kit applied.

Nowt special, but the game is :)

Especially the left-side player joystick and button placement -- it seems that the person who mounted the buttons doesn't know the proper way to place buttons. It would seem logical to have the two buttons lined up with the joystick on the horizontal plane would be better IMO. Considering how big the control panel is, it seems that it would be big enough for three players indeed (i.e. three player shmupfest of Video System Co.'s Turbo Force/Hyper Force PCB). ^_~

That was originally some kind of 3 player cab for sure. I'd love to see a 3 player Turbo Force going one of these days.

It's been many moons ago since I've personally seen a three-player Turbo Force cabinet setup. It's fun to have the odd guy or gal join in on a shmup session if two players are playing it. ^_~
