I don't think it's confirmed that this will be a shmup though. In Japan, "shooting game" is a very broad term. It's possible that it could be similar to After Burner or Ace Combat. But since it's apparently a 360 exclusive, and since shmups have an established fanbase on the 360, there's a good chance that it will be a shmup. In any case, I hope they'll get a competent dev to create it.

Well, I suppose I was speaking in the context of Microsoft Japan's way of classifying Xbox/Xbox 360 games.

If you click on "Shooting", it will show you FPS, 3PS, shmups, flight sims, light gun, etc. Although each individual game on the list has a more specific genre describing it. Even then it's not really consistent (both Halo 3 and Otomedius G are described simply as "Shooting", for example). I just think it would be a lot less confusing if Cyber Front's description were a little more specific.

Also, if the site you're referring to is Hatimaki, then I don't think you should be taking what's posted there too seriously.

That depends on who's actual developer behind the game, Cyberfront is only publisher. There's some wishful thinking on 2ch about G.Rev doing it but we'll see.

I am always hoping G.Rev will actually make Border Down 2 or Under Defeat 2...

Nothing at TGS, but apparently game is now listed in Famitsu release schedule list so we might be getting some actual info soon.
