Dispite the above post I'll still have to say this is my top 3 of shmups I am looking the most forward to:

1. Senko No Ronde

2. Mushihimesama

3. Raiden 3

Also Drill for the DC looks pretty good (though it's not officially licensed and thus sort of homebrew) and Qatmix's DC Cute em up look fun too.
Will buy Xexex too.
Barroom hero!

Raiden III - PS2 (or possibly Type-X, if it drops below $2400 for the game alone. ;))

After playing it, I concur that it's not a shmup. It plays more like Virtual On...
After looking at the Senkou no Ronde videos circulating around the Internet, I realized that Virtual On was only one detail short of being a competetive shmup, that one detail not being the game's perspective located right behind your mech instead of the isometric one that Senko no Ronde has (since the replay angles of Oratorio Tangram has a similar angle used in Senko no Ronde), but allowing movement along the Z-axis (jumping/air dashing). Although you don't have the type of mobility we're accustomed to in shmups, the mechanics are still there. You still have to remember the type of bullet patterns fired from your enemy, since all of them aren't instant-hit like most FPS titles are, and you still have to find a way to avoid them without getting hit while simultaneously postioning your line of fire to face your opponent and try to hit them with your weapons.

Oh shit! I forgot about Thunder Force 6!

If it's ever officially announced, with a release date, then it'll be at the top of my list.
