SF4 Joystick problems with MAME's Battle Garegga and Souky

Post by Shelcoof »

Hey guys

I'm not sure if it's me or not but whenever I use my SFIV Joystick with MAME playing Battle Garegga and Souky, movements on it is quite jerky.

I don't have problems playing other games like DoDonPachi or anything else but specifically only Raizing games for some reason (in this case Battle Garegga and Tera Drive).

If I use the standard Xbox 360 Direction Pad it works fine, it is only the SF4 stick that has problems.

The stick is configured to DP so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Anyone else having similar problems?
Thanks
Jimmy

Well...Raizing games are notorious for input problems. Personally, they all feel "floaty" to me no matter what the input is. Then again, they may have fixed that...I have'nt tried in a year or so.

I find it really strange though.

Lets say I tap the joystick right on an normal 360 pad, the ship would move 1 ship over.
If I do this with the SF4 Joystick the Ship would move 3 ships over.

I'd have to be constantly moving the joystick to stop myself from moving too far over. This causes me to hit bullets that I can easily miss.

So annoying because I'd have to hook up a 360 controller in order to play these games.

Try to use Xpadder or joy2key or something like that and see if it makes a difference.

Can you set the stick to Dpad instead of Analog like the PS3 ones? Try that also if possible.

Turn Vsync off!
Oh and check that your SF Stick isn't in analog mode.

Vsync is already off and my stick is set to Direction Pad.

I also have a SF4 stick, I cannot play Garegga worth a damn with the thing, it just moves WAAAAY to much and also feels laggy. Never been able to find out why, and as you've said it plays other things fine in mame, and also ps2/dc emulation just perfect.

Have you guys tried xpadder, as suggested above? As far as MAME knows, it's a keyboard sending input, and if xpadder has no delay issues, you should be good.

Just wanted to post that the SF4 pad is ok.

I'm going to try and figure out what the problem maybe first before using xpadder.

I've never used my SF4 TE stick on my PC without xpadder. I've never had any problems with any games ever.

After reading this, I downloaded Xpadder, and yeah, it's awesome and very simple. Now I'm having no problems with MAME.
