My eyes and hands hurt. Also, pointblanking a turret that spews fire gets you killed.

Okay, weirdest freaking thing happened to me on this playthrough. I was in the last bit of lateral scrolling of stage 4 before the boss's meteors or whatever start raining down, and I swear I heard "SHORYUKEN!", like someone had ripped it straight out of one of the pre-Super SF2 games, where the sound is still all scratchy from crappy compression. Anyone else run into this, or am I crazy?

Hmm...
Bad bullet visibility, dodging of weapon powerups, lots of bombing, tons of hidden bonuses. Raizing fans should be all over this.

@Shatterhand: Although I agree with most of your sentiments, I really enjoy playing Varth. It feels fresh and interesting to me, the graphics are fantastic, and the music is nice, too. It's a pity that I hardly have any time to play this week. One hour (max) per day won't get me anywhere.

Laser and Wide are actually nice and useful weapons, but they are rendered useless by their crappy bombs. The bomb is the main reason you have to stick to the machine guns. The most annoying points bonuses are the little red rockets, which must be flown over to be revealed, then shot. (The other bonuses work the other way around.) And it's true, those damn smart pods are too unreliable.

What's wrong with the laser weapon's bomb? I thought it was the best one. In fact I was using laser for a while but since you guys kept complaining about it I tried the machine gun and found that it does kill stuff faster. Only problem is the popcorns are more apt to slip past when there is a break in the stream of bullets.

just raelized i played monday and tues evening with no autofire  .. capcoms "rapid fire" option on the collection is not fast so stay away from it if you dont have an autofire stick, in fact my slow tapping was better. i plugged in the asciiware stick and now it's a LOT easier.wondered why i was doing so shit

Solution to what? Even at full power the machine gun doesn't always make a continuous stream with 30hz autofire. Although I guess 'not dying' does make a lot of other issues moot...

Well, it's not relly second loop per se, but stages 16 on kind of repeat the earlier stages with a noticeable difficulty spike.

Didn't have much time to play this week and playing this game doesn't feel particularly rewarding because I just don't seem to get any better if I play more. Doubt I'll get a score that counts for our team with the rest of the day I have left to play, so I'll do something more useful with the time. I hope to be able to get more serious next week.

Why is so much pain (both physical and metaphorical) required to improve in this game? No-missing up to stage 10 only to be sniped at point-blank all the way to game over. Fuck it, I'll play DoDonPachi instead.

[EDIT]
Oh holy shit, that's an awesome score, Ruldra! How far did you go podless?
