PS2 - GITS [Stand Alone Complex]

Post by system11 »

Just completed this game, it's not the longest in the world, but anyone who is a fan of Ghost In The Shell and is sequel series, should definitely check the game out. I was expecting a 2nd tier gaming experience, but this one was quality all the way through - it feels like a genuine story/film for the series, and the voices sound like they're done by the same voice actors used for the DVD dubs (which were good).

Impressed!

Anyone else played this yet?

Thank you!

This was one of my absolute favourite games last year, and it saddens me that it was overlooked - for all the wrong reasons - by virtually everyone.

Last year!?

Wow - it only came out in Europe about a month ago.

I was totally nuts about the PS1 one where you're inside the lil bug contraption the whole time. This new one looks like you're all behind the back 3rd person. Any robotic bug piloting?

D: I'm sure I'll try it anyway but that does not bode well.

I like the first a lot, but then again it was made by Exact and featured gorgeous cutscenes (production IG iirc).

How does it fare the new one in this department?

yeah, made a thread on it a few months ago. Totally badass game, love it..but then again, I'm a big fan of the series, so I might have some bias.

Moogs damn you, I stayed away from this game for the longest time because of your initial impressions of it.

Same here. Its probably one of the best 3d anime licensed games I've ever played.

Graphics are okay... the game is very fun. I bought the JPN one in the fall, months after it came out. Enjoyed it. Fun game. I love the 16:9 feature.

I might get try out the PS2 version soon, but I just got a copy of the old PS1 GITS game and I'm loving it. I've only done the training missions, but already it seems awesome. The anime cutscenes are cool and they got the english voice actors they used for the movie. I don't like the show as much as the movie, so it's awesome that this is of the movie's style

Best opening ever. I will give anyone full bragging rights if they can name the person that wrote that opening track. He's pretty famous in Japan, and pretty well-known out of Japan in techno rings.

Yeah, the opening is awesome. I love all the short anime things that pop up from time to time, like Kusanagi making some comment on your skills, or the Fachikomas screaming about raises in their pay.

I actually own the vinyl of this soundtrack (the game soundtrack, not the movie). It was damn pricey too. Takkyu Ishino wrote and arranged the track.
