As far as current generation FPSs go, Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life 2/its mods are about the only ones I play regularly. Anything else, I've just overlooked anytime I've gotten the chance to buy them (COD4, but there's still MW2 coming up). I'm still saving up for a new custom PC to build so I can really enjoy the latest modern and future FPS titles.

Doom was the very first game that made me take notice of FPS games. But it was the very first Unreal Tournament that really got me into the genre as a whole. Aside from the fast action, it had a unique, identifiable style and features that no other game had at the time (the Windows-style UI was perfect). I still consider UT99 the highest point in the series. The sequels didn't hit with me as well, especially not UT3, where the visual style turned me off from the games completely.

So while I do like current generation FPSs, my interest in the genre has gone down somewhat. Right now, I'm looking to play older FPSs I may have missed out on for whatever reason when they were released -- currently on my radar is the Rainbow Six series.

So, who else is as excited as I am for Operation: Flashpoint 2? After reading about it I'm getting flashbacks of Project: IGI. That is, hardcore mode has no mid-level checkpoints and you're easily killed. Kinda like the old Rainbow Six games. Ever tried to slog through the original and Rogue Spear on the Dreamcast? Looking back, not fun. At the time, however, it was great.

Anyone played Wolfenstein yet/impressions? I need some new games, can't wait for ODST and MW2.

same, it was the first fps I played online and discovered the whole clan thing and ladder matches. Used to play all day on Mplayer :D

Then I moved on to the early betas of Day of Defeat where I played clan matches till 2004.

Dont play FPS' as much anymore. I played CoD4 to death when it came out and the same thing will probably happen again when MW2 comes out. Played nothing but Bioshock when it came out for xbox 360, that game is so awesome.

First FPS I played online was hidden and dangerous 2, and I was hooked for three years. Great memories of carnage and heroism. The communtiy was great. Then my PC broke.

Now the 360 is my modern gaming platform. It took me a few months of serious agony to become somewhat skilled with the dual thumbsticks, but now I actually love them. Leaning back in the couch while playing FPS is great. Halo 3 and TF2 are my favs in multiplayer as I love a drawn out firefight. In singleplayer, FC2 baby!

I'm really looking forward to Flashpoint 2. I hope it's as good as I think it is.
