I expect either Esprade, or Progear, or Guwange to win in the poll. I also expect Yagawa's games to lose.

Also, Pac-Man CE, Marathon, Geometry Wars 2, and E4 are some of my favorite games on XBLA.

With the way things are going lately, I'm pretty sure a Ketsui 2 would have both of those.

Done.
MS3 is also stuck in censored mode if you don't change the language on your Xbox to Japanese. The XBLA version seems based on the home cart and not the MVS original. I'd rather get my MVS MS3 cart off the shelf or emulate it in MAME/Final Burn. Shame SNK doesn't add options for bitmap prescaling and simulated RGB effects.

The SNK XBLA ports have often been as bad as the typical Backbone Genesis ones.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

It's not quite that bad // ... But really I don't don't understand why these games aren't ported en masse with whatever look and region setting, but with a front end system that gives you the option to switch any/every setting available.

Why doesn't every snk game have the same options etc?

I presume that if you setup a generic front end you could easily patch in additional options as/and when you worked on them and/or in response to feedback?

Same with cave ports - screw teasing me - give me all of them and let me pay you money. The only reason I can see you having to choose is because cave is going to have to add some xbla only feature of some kind... Either that or the poll is just one big tease to no where...

Summer of arcade, my arse. Summer of one arcade game and some decent others maybe.

... I'd wish they'd just create a seperate/sub shard called 'true arcade' or something. You can hide it beneath some other menu/layer if you think it's awesome length and old names were going to pop the minds of those "halo bois". IMHO if Joe public can handle amazon you're going to have to argue pretty hard for the need to streamline the xbla choice environment for fear of putting off customers...

I'm fed up with being teased over ports (or even emulations) and kind of disappointed that we only ever get chucked a couple of bones.

I'm sorry to keep ranting in such threads but if xbla or even PSN sorted the act out a little ... /resumes dreaming

Why do you insist on supporting disgustingly worthless XBLA ports?

All the titles you trashed on earlier I found pretty acceptable.

- I enjoy the online in the available online games (even if the netcode isn't that great).
- Games are priced very well
- Graphics look great on my HDTV (I know there are others who disagree)

I mean I think the available games on Live are great, sure some games have different regions on them etc. but I find those don't really distract me from enjoying a good game. I have fun and thats what really counts.

Thats just me though :)

I was wondering why people want ports of guwange and progear so much...
they're emulated fine on MAME, after all.
Besides, i really don't like guwange. (Yep. As a cave-fanboy.)

I didn't fancy it either, until the latest shmup-meet at sven666 when I got my PCB premiere of it. It's awesome.

Nice update, They say they've had 400-500 votes from overseas and thanks to everyone who voted. Think it also says they should have the votes collated by next Tuesday and will put it forward to Microsoft.

Thank you for the update.

We should also have all mentioned (when we voted) that we'd love to have them publish their blog in Engrish.

If it's to believe people from 2ch that were on Cave meeting today, ESP Ra.De and Dangun Feveron got lot of votes, overseas voters were picking on MMP...
Asada also mentioned they plan to talk about DeathSmiles with overseas publishers during TGS.

Kind of off-topic but on that link, what does the comment about Ketsui say at the end? I did a Google translate but it didn't come out clear (to me).

Google translate: Ketsui is ... so strict situation. The level of fit for the end of the year or at least I've heard

"Ketsui's current situation is severe. It doesn't seem like it's at a level where it'll be released this year.

I think it's just a random comment? Don't take anything on 2channel seriously. It's comparable to 4chan. But in regards to the comment itself, he's probably 100% correct.

Anyway, talk of Death Smiles getting a localization is awesome. But there's some issues:

- The majority of the western STG fanbase have already imported the game.
- The majority of us have already played it and are awaiting Futari/etc.
- CAVE need to release their titles overseas within a certain amount of time, or people will lose interest. (Why would you wait for a western release that takes 6 months, when you can play it right now via importing?)

So basically, Cave need to release this game with the intention of showing the western STG fanbase that they care and acknowledge their existence. If they're just going to do it for profit, there's no point. But I will buy 3 copies.

I haven't played it yet, but Deathsmiles is one of the easier Cave games, right? Ikaruga went over well with mainstream western game reviewers, so it seems to me that if Cave plays their cards well, Deathsmiles has a chance of doing the same and in doing so help Cave break into the Western market, at least to some extent. Thoughts, anyone?

is a link explaining the christian right even necessary

in any case I don't think Deathsmiles would be even a blip on their radar considering its niche appeal

I could see them removing the ages from the character select screen, but not much beyond that.

I mean, the US release of Magic Knight Rayearth didn't change a thing about the nude transformation scene that takes place seconds after the girls introduce themselves as 14 years old.

Ikaruga = No Lolis
DS = Lolis

I don't think the western world is ready for lolis yet, except among overseas otaku of course, but to break into a mainstream western audience that's primarily into grimdark shootan games, if that's what this games purpose is to be it'll be a total flop in that sense.

sluts are universal.... especially barely dressed ones.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Perhaps CAVE should join ventures with Capcom once again, and re-label the western release "Three Wonders - Reborn" or something cheesy as that:

Image

Of course, the original just had two lead characters, so it'd had to be tweaked some more.
