Sorry - totally missed your post in the run of things - i think we are good bringing cabs up here and you are more than welcome to attend. Good to see more Chicagoland shmuppers popping up.GradiusFan wrote:Hi all, I don't have any cabs and I've never been to a shmupmeet before but I can be of some use perhaps. If any one needs help transporting a cabinet I do have a pick-up truck and I'm willing to help move 'em around the chicagoland area. I'm loacated about 80 miles southwest of Chicago.

I did want to ask everyone planning on comming to shoot off a pcb list here> I'm trying to come up with a second shooting contest title (one old - already chosen and one new) and would like to do a round robin tourney on two cabs with pcb's. Hoping to get two good pcb's...

whether i fly or drive it still involves crossing the border which requires a passport
although i dont have a car, or more importantly, a license

the problem is i need to get a form of government issued ID with a photo, like our new health cards.....main issue is it takes 4-6 weeks to get your health card issued.....and then i would need a week to get my passport....drboom wrote:Man, that really does suck. simply not enough time now

Re: Chicagoland Autumn Carnival - October 2nd through the 4th
OK - after talking it over with a few guys, I have decided on two scoring titles: Battle Garegga (pcb) and Soldier Blade - 2 Minute Mode.
gunbird18 and I will have identical Garegga boards (Japan version with zakk roms) and we will run a round robin contest. Last man standing wins. The bracket will be set up by lottery and score - not distance - will count.
Soldier Blade 2 Minute mode will be a classic high score contest with the top scorer getting a special prize.
I hope I can convince Hudson to sponsor us again and I'm getting a few sponsors from the area as well.
In NYC fr the next few days oin business, but I will add the contest to the main post when I get back.
I'm also planning a non-shmup title for a midnight scoring contest after many beers have been drunk...

I would like to play Dyna Gears on your MAME box while I am drunk. That game is crazy-fun when I am sober, I am wondering if it will be trippy when I am retarded drunk.

I'm sure it's changed by now, but last time I took the ferry across from Canada they barely even blinked at us. Though we were in a car with Michigan plates.

as of this july past passports are required for entering or leaving the US from/to canada by both air and groundt0yrobo wrote:I'm sure it's changed by now, but last time I took the ferry across from Canada they barely even blinked at us. Though we were in a car with Michigan plates.
before that i could have just come across on the bus....you only needed the passport if coming in by air......there was no need for it with ground travel

Down here, you can walk into the DMV with a birth certificate and a social security card and they hand you an ID card that you can use in the same situations as a license of driving. Fucking Canada >:|

Re: Chicagoland Autumn Carnival - October 2nd through the 4th
we have similar things here, but they all send the card to you to verify address
fastest would be to get my new health card, which i need to do anyways....but it requires taking a day off work and going down to the place and queueing for 5 hrs or so to file my papers and then 4-6 weeks for them to process and get them to me
i could also get an age of majority card but again 4-6 weeks
i dont get what the problem is....its not like once i got into the states i would want to stay or something....
them dang canadians are after our jobs and electricity i reckon
