I've bene playing the hell out of this game lately and I think more people need to try it. It is a very simple shooter in the style of Bosconian. Basically, each level consists of enemy base type objects. These bases are destroyed by blowing up little nodes that in turn destroy everything attached to them. The game is very crossplatform too. I had to tinker a bit with the "video" settings to get it looking the best for my PC. The bad news is that it has a smelly euro healthbar, the good news is that classic mode removes it. It is not a perfect game but it is very fun and unique. This is not my game but I really thought enough of it to post it here. Play through a few levels before making up your mind.

It is really fun to blow up an entire base by shooting the core. Ofcourse sometimes you just have to prune the edges down a bit to get to it.

Is that a double shot coming out of the player ship's butt?

Looks simple but fun, as described.

Yeah, the ship shoots both forward and backward.

I played some a while ago, but couldn't manage to beat level 43.

I played through this ~7 or so years ago in Linux (it was a different version by the same author). I eventually made it through all the levels but I broke a controller doing it - those red orbs that explode into a spread of bullets directly in front of you are infuriating in the later levels.
