Parts of my collection must go...

Post by TWITCHDOCTOR »

I'm going to start with my modded PS1 and all games...including Japanese import shooters. The Namco arcade stick might go along with it.
Also, my PS2 with all games. Including two complete Namco GunCon's.
It will be on Ebay soon as two complete lots. All original boxes, etc, etc.

Hopefully that will get me somewhere close (money wise) to build my next engine for my HotRod Chevelle.
The engine has worn itself out...with 157,000 miles! I can no longer prolong its agony. I had it running "sorta" good a few weeks ago, but the added power pushed it beyond its worn-out boundries. I basically "beat a dying horse".

Hopefully I wont have to sell my Sega Saturn, the Dreamcast would go before that! Again, all original, mostly imports with some spine cards. (I hate Spine cards...WAY overrated imo)

I at least want to keep my Turbo Duo with games and the XBOX(because of MAME and Kawa-X).
Like to keep the Saturn too, because of "rare" import" shmups...plus great arcade control!

I don't think I would get much for my Genesis and SNES...like with at least 50 games each(mostly shmups, action platformers) so, I should just consider keeping these.

If I only sell the Playstations, I can live with that, as I have plans on simply buying a Japanese PS2 with a handfull of my faves when my finances improve....Gotta be selective now! :(

I'm just glad that I can do most, if not all the work with the engine myself...including dropping it in the car...so that right there will save me $$$$'s!

Damn...I kinda feel like something/someone close to me died.
That loss, y'know...and I haven't even sold anything yet.

Would love to help you rebuilding that engine.

And your ebay nickname would be?

edit: aww, man, did not want to sound like a vulture... I see you're really saddened by the events. I feel for you.

I'm known as the Twitchdoctor pretty much everywhere...

BTW: I'll be getting a new engine(no rebuild=bigger is better), as the one currently in there will become a "boat anchor"...aka throw-away. I have a few performance parts on it, those I will keep for the new motor. The block and innards is a gonner. Although it could be rebuilt, but why?

The nice thing about the game collection is that you can sell parts of it now, and then, when you've got more money, you can buy back what you miss. It's funny how you won't miss everything you sell - certain titles will stand out as important to you, which in my opinion, will allow you to create a nice, small collection of games that you really love.

I'm slowly repurchasing some games I sold when I was younger, but have realized that many of them mean nothing to me anymore.

Sorry to hear that you have to sell off your collection though, it's never easy. And good luck with the new engine!

PS - the SNES games (depending on what games you've got) may get you a bit of money - I'm always interested in some good SNES carts!

I agree I'm starting again on the PSX atm then I'll do the same with the SNES and MegaDrive. I have a list of no more than 20 games for those consoles I really want in my collection 8)

I'm sad to hear that Twitch. Hope your new engine is more powerful than your old one.

I'm slowly rebuilding my SNES collection, so I know the pain (and fun!) of it all.

Still, I'd give up videogames forever if I owned a classic hot rod. Who has time for videogames when you have a vintage machine to work on?

Why I do like vintage stuff? You know, cars from the 70s and earlier, 8 and 16 bit game systems, and WWII airplanes? Why do I resent new technology so much? (Cause I can't afford it? Older stuff looks better? I don't know!)
Shmups: It's all about blowing stuff up!

It shouldn't be all sad. I sold off a collection several times only to rebuy what was really good later. It just gives you something new to do after the engine gets taken care of. Sent you a PM btw.

It's the pits when shit like this happens. Split up with my ex over Christmas time, between us we'd run up a sizeable amount of debt. No big deal with 2 full-time paychecks coming into the house, but with just one...

First, the Neo AES and 15 games went. Then the Saturn's, and 100+ games, the SFC with 25+, and finally the PCE, CD Rom and 35. Bout the only thing I have left of any real vlue is my JPN DC stuff. Put that on Ebay a few weeks ago, but luckily for me it didn't meet reserve, and as my situation has improved somewhat, I can keep that at least.

And I got shitty prices for most of my gear.
