Although according to Minter in recent posts on his forum, the game has taken yet another diversion and the visuals are now completely different from all those above... In other news, the game is now no longer a twin stick shooter. It can now be controlled wholey using the mouse (akin to GR++).
The Neon graphics engine is constantly evolving. I've seen them generate some awesome sky lines recently.

It looks like it can do stuff like procedural fire, water, and vapour now. Looks really nice on some of the later stages of SIE, especially the water effects. Minter could take this in all new directions now, not just psychedelia.

I played the Gridrunner++ demo. Loved the Game Over sound.

Some new footage has been released of the almost complete version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4IrGCyrePc

Click on the HQ button to see it in higher quality.

Release is 'imminent' apparently.

I'm impressed. The one thing I missed in the GR+++ demo was "Just call me baaaa-dass".

Space Giraffe ran a bit slow on my XPS 210 for some reason, but I'd guess the toned-down psychedelic effects in GR+++ should mean less processor/GPU demand.

Hopefully Microsoft will wake up and quit sitting on the 360 version. Damnit guys...
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Am I the only one thinking this looks more geared towards the casual gamer? Where is the frenetic action? I am not a great fan of most of Minters games but I hope he can still do his own thing. This looks to watered down.

There's about 5 different difficulty settings (all named after various curry strengths). That video shows only the easiest setting. Don't worry, the usual Minter-chaos will still be present and correct.

This actually looks pretty damn good. Too bad it won't get a PSN release, then I would buy it.

Looks great. Must admit that I find all the sheepy sounds a bit annoying somehow. Yeah, I know, it's Minter's trademark, but I'd like an option to use more 'normal' bonus sounds and assorted other sound f/x. :)

I'm sure there will be a sfx volume control so you can turn them down a bit.

Better still would be an alternate sound set. :)

In the original PC version (GR++) there was just a folder with all the WAV files for each sound effect, but I think this new version will have it's effects packaged-up in xwb containers (like Space Giraffe PC). I think this is a format related to XNA, so if someone knows how to open/amend those containers, you can use your own sounds.

Nice press pack that. The book was apparently printed via lulu.com -

I love how the Tempest claw is one of the ships. And there's a sound effect from T3K in there ("Oops...loser")

Shouldn't the title of this thread be changed to Gridrunner Revolution, seeing as that is now the official title? :)

Also, I see Jeff has uploaded a tutorial on some of the gameplay basics:

There you go.

Will the PC version be a retail game or is this just the press version and it's download for everyone else?

I hope this will still come out on XBLA.

I think it's download only, but not 100% sure.

It's initially download-only, although there is talk of a special collectors limited edition that will contain the stuff in the press pack plus possibly other goodies.
