Decide Sega's next XBLA release!

VOTE FOR TOEJAM AND EARL 1

That's all I have to say. It's my favorite game of all time. There is no contest here.

Why the fuck is Earthworm Jim winning? Eww. I could understand if it were maybe an SNES port, but no, Toejam and Earl with online co-op would absolutely crucify every other XBLA title available, including Bomberman Live. Real talk.

But then again this is Sega and with that there's an incredibly high possibility that they'll end up doing something profoundly stupid, like releasing the game without online co-op. I can almost see it happening now. The creators of TJ&E are pretty loyal though, I emailed them a "fan letter" way back when I was 14 and actually received a response. I wonder what they're doing now.

Bubble Bobble NEO was released for the JP marketplace recently and it lacks online co-op, so this shit is still going on. You would think that the truckloads of horrifyingly poor SNK XBLA releases would make other companies step their game up already.

Whilst i agree somewhat with that sentiment, i have to flip it back : why the fuck would we vote for Toe Jam and Earl?

it's absolutely friggin shite - and revenge of shinobi is an option, so...

There's supposed to be something in the middle of that frame right? I didn't see any way to vote. I don't know what's wrong.

I'd also like to see TJ&E2 with online co-op, but the original sounds easier to netcode for thanks to the split screen.

yeah, actually that was a little out of order. Apologies.

I never really got the appeal of TJ+E - i tried over and over to get into it and whilst i found it fairly original the core game play just never clicked.

Not sure why sega can't just throw all of these up given they did a batch of games the last time and it's pretty obvious they have an XBLA tuned emu ready to take roms on board. I guess it's just patching in the achievements etc.

For me it introduced 2 player co-op, as opposed to 2 players usually competing. It's a pretty slow game, but I like that aspect. It just gave me an overall feeling of accomplishment after beating it with my mother when I was 7.

Online co-op just makes sense with games like these, but they keep fucking it up.

Nothing came up for me on the poll page. While I agree with Diabollokus on TF4 & Alien Soldier, I wouldn't mind seeing Mega Turrican either.

Just Genesis again? Some Saturn and Dreamcast titles would be nice- like HD versions of Soukyugurentai and Border Down (complete with the Remix). Hell, maybe even a polygonal Galaxy Force II. While I'm glad the PS2 version stuck to sprites, the 360 should be able to do a 3DG GFII well.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I'm also getting a blank frame. What were the choices? Apologies if they were posted already.

I already own the best version of Earthworm Jim 1 on Sega CD. I own both Toejam and Earl carts and I plan on buying Sonic's Mega Collection soon so why bother?

This would be absolutely amazing.

This game had the "mega man 1 cover" of the ps1 and saturn generation. too bad it probably got passed over by many people for that reason.

But considering how Backbone typically fucks up a Genesis port, can you even imagine how borked a Saturn port would be?

But yeah, game is freakin' awesome.

Why the hell couldn't it be one of their arcade racers

You could have splitscreen easily on an HDTV...no, instead it has to be Genesis games that will play better on an emulator (or which we already have in cartridge form) anyway.

Seriously, I'd pick an XBLA release of Daytona USA over any of those.

That said, Elixir has made a good argument for TJ&E.

Makes me want to rush out and buy TJ&E III: Mission to Erf just to celebrate. ;D

The third game didn't feel anything like the first two. I don't know why, it just isn't the same.

There's only so much you can do with a bunch of guys wandering around, picking up presents and being run over by that FUCKING BUS. Outrun is great and the XBLA netcode is good, so maybe Daytona USA is still a possibility.

I know. There are so many arcade racers that they could do. Super Hang-On with 2 player vs. play sounds good. Power Drift could be released with both regular and "communication" versions. The communication version has up to 4 linked cabinets and players compete to stay in. The minimum qualifying rank starts at 6th place for stage 1, and goes higher throughout the rest of the game (as high as 2nd in stage 5).

We really need a "Daytona USA Complete Edition" with the first Daytona, both editions of Daytona 2, Scud Race/Super GT, and Scud Race Plus.

If you're wondering why Earthworm Jim is suddenly missing from the poll results, it might have to do with this remake coming out for X360/PS3/Wii.
Gozer wrote:Why the hell won't they port Afterburner Climax????
It's only running on Sega's Lindbergh hardware (which is basically an average gaming PC in terms of specs, so a port to either PS3 or X360 wouldn't have been difficult at all. Maybe there just wasn't enough interest in the game at the arcade.

I think Sega's afraid of putting out a game that can be beaten in 10 mins at the arcade. Why should that be a problem though? They could just add a couple extra scenarios and modes (like 1000 hits challenge, etc.) It's a sacrilege that Sega hasn't ported many of their recent arcade titles.

Game length was not a problem for Out Run 2 & OR2 SP, even though they can be cleared in 5 minutes or less. Shame Sega hasn't been porting their light gun games to Guncon 3. Hopefully after a PS3 port of Razing Storm, we'll see some more GC3 games. *crosses fingers*

Rambo (the arcade Lindbergh gun game) could be nicely thrown into a compilation with the SMS and Genesis cart games.

I think Sony & Microsoft should allow a lower price point for arcade ports, so publishers don't get scared of doing them.

I don't think that is the case. Shinobi, took like 15 minutes to beat. Plus, every sega game has a save feature. So every game is beatable in an hour or so.

Its nice to see Earthworm and Toe Jam and Earl (judging by percentages) coming to the "arcade."

I'd really like to see someone re-make bank panic. That is a classic game that is very addicting.
