I thought the general consensus was that the whole 5pb XBLA thing was a lie.

This is a bold statement to make, considering you are not in a position to know anything about private discussions between the parties.

That's cool news to hear of another STG game being developed for the DSi. Makes me wonder if it will be from Cave's vault of classic STG games or something a lttle more recent perhaps? ^_~

Where did they say the DSi game is going to be a shooting game?
Re: Midnight Live 360 - Cave Festa Special thread
Appreciate it's not the source, but this is where I saw it in this thread.hirounder wrote:Got some more info on Mihara interview from other 2ch threads:
- they look to have DOJBLEX bugfix patch out by the end of August
- M2 will be working on that "complete" version of DOJBLEX
- Mihara/Arika's DSi game is of course STG
- Mihara would to like make XNA game with Clamp designed characters (!?)
Somone also mentioned Cave wants to bring some of their older titles to XBLA.
All in all I'm pretty stoked about the news. Futari in November, ESPGaluda II port already underway, finally a good reason to have a JP DSi (other than the Gyakuten Kenji LE), and the potential of more ports. A nice simple port of something like ESP.Ra.De to XBLA would make my da...life.

^^No problem.
Asada just wrote on his blog that there'll be another Cave conference on 29th of August. He's also asking what Cave game(s) would people like to see on XBLA, so they can propose it to MS. So you can start sending your Guwange/Progear requests to blog360@mail.cave.co.jp
...put XBLA in subject, guess he won't ignore foreign mails. Deadline is 8/28.

Re: Midnight Live 360 - Cave Festa Special thread
I'm not sure it's that simple. They might allow the first patch to be free, but only a patch that's a bug-fix. Strictly speaking, a patch that makes the port more accurate isn't a bug-fixing patch, so *has* to be sold separately.Danbo Daxter wrote:I remember Valve commenting on this regarding the 360 port of TF2, actually. MS allows the developers one free patch and the rest have to be paid for. I don't know how much it costs after that, but they have to get the money back somehow.
It's possible that it's still actually the case. IIRC Microsoft were against direct ports. It's something Cave could easily get around by adding extra stuff like hi-res and arrange modes.Elixir wrote:I thought the general consensus was that the whole 5pb XBLA thing was a lie.

Surely we should be voting for something that has not yet been emulated or released on a console? I say we all vote for Ketsui.hirounder wrote:^^No problem.

Is there any point asking for Ketsui? Even if 5pb don't release it I'm sure Cave will release it without us voting for it, such is the level of hype for the game.
I think it is more likely that they are thinking of Atlus era games.

Would have thought it'd play like a cross between Espgaluda 2, Espgaluda Arrange, MMP and Ibara Kuro, myself.GaijinPunch wrote:I'd like to see Yagawa's take on an Ikeda game. That could be fun -- gold and gems flying all over the place but you not sucking them in.

I was not the parties in question who publicly talked about how they are angry at MS 'attitudes' but will continue to develop anyway, as if they are doing a service.zakk wrote:This is a bold statement to make, considering you are not in a position to know anything about private discussions between the parties.
If you talk negatively in public, then the public has a right to know the details. If they kept their dissatisfaction to private affairs, then I wouldn't be asking.

They all gave specific reasons IIRC. Asada mentioned the Q&A part of the MS approval process, which apparently he couldn't get any response out of for weeks at an early point in the dev period, but when it came right down to the wire they finally got back to him.manaka wrote:I was not the parties in question who publicly talked about how they are angry at MS 'attitudes' but will continue to develop anyway, as if they are doing a service.zakk wrote:This is a bold statement to make, considering you are not in a position to know anything about private discussions between the parties.

Valid complaint. Can't remember what the Grev guy said, but the Gulchi guy was pretty down on the 360 in general.
They have the standpoint to make a critique though: shooters are one more and more important corner of the 360's small appeal in Japan. Besides shooters, 5pb is one of the only exclusive J game makers left after things like Square's games performed poorly (and were poor games) and games like Ninja Blade flopped at retail. The 360 has, in a matter of months, gone from a surprising growth at the end of last year to widely reviled as a beta testing zone for future PS3 ports when it isn't verging into hardcore moe territory with something like Dream Club. Not to mention hardware problems etc... I mean come on, the 360's major summer games were Gears 2 (a lot of fans already played the English version), and Magna Carta II (no comment needed). The 360 is at a real low point at the moment. I don't think they have anything at TGS that is really going to turn this situation around.
MS should listen hard to whatever these game makers who have stuck with the platform are saying IMO.

I would urge everyone to not even bother with games other companies hold the rights to. Atlus titles seem to be doable, especially considering Cave handles Megami Tensei Online. Progear is going to be a dream though. Even if they had the rights, you never hear them say anything favorable about the development experience.Guwange

That's a valid complaint, and certainly MS' fault. They should be more supportive of the few developers they have left that make the 360 appealing to the Japanese.adversity1 wrote:They all gave specific reasons IIRC. Would be interested in what G.rev said. Guilti... they did have a bunch of mishaps with RFA, I wouldn't be surprised if the patch/update ordeal tired them out. Didn't they also want to port their games to XBLA at one point before being refused and going retail, like 5pb?adversity1 wrote:Can't remember what the Grev guy said, but the Gulchi guy was pretty down on the 360 in general.
Both are niche territories, and when put together, at least put a sizable number in the market. MS would do well to cultivate both fronts now, now that their mainstream title publishers have dried up.adversity1 wrote:They have the standpoint to make a critique though: shooters are one more and more important corner of the 360's small appeal in Japan... when it isn't verging into hardcore moe territory with something like Dream Club.
Not really, I can think of some others.adversity1 wrote:5pb is one of the only exclusive J game makers left
There's nothing at all that can turn anything around for any of the systems anymore. Everything is pretty much set in stone, and most major titles have been announced already and anticipated. There's no more rabbits left for MS (Sony and Nintendo for that matter) to pull out of their hat, even if they wanted to.adversity1 wrote:I don't think they have anything at TGS that is really going to turn this situation around.

Is Espgaluda going to be on XBLA instead of Retail disc?
That's what gamefront.de says.
But most likely they are just idiotic pricks who think "OMG THIS IS 2D IT CAN'T BE RETAIL!!!11111"
