Youtube user lukemorse1 stops making videos...

Post by Zeether »

If anyone's familiar with this guy, he lives in Japan and posted many, many videos about classic game systems, repairing them, and also made trips to game stores in Japan. Well, recently, he has stopped making videos due to a heartbreaking personal issue...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zhaBPKrk7RA

Just goes to show that it's hard to balance a hobby with family life sometimes...very, very sad.

I think the question is should I even feel bad?

Because I don't feel bad for the guy at all, he did it to himself.

All aboard the RONERY train.

Seriously though, sucks for him. But he prob. could have seen it coming a mile away, if he had lifted his head from the cabs for a moment.

he seems like a totally mellow and cool dude, so for that alone its sad to see him catch a bad one... but I agree that he probably could have seen it coming had he been a little more attentive to the really important things in his life.

Sucks having those kind of regrets in life.... shit passes you by and you never really fully forgive yourself for it. Nor should you.

I'm trying to avoid his situation, not that I have a wife and kids or anything, but I just no longer feel like it's necessary to have a whole bunch of shit sitting around. But yeah, deep video, I did watch a few of his other videos at one point and I liked it, but he came across as the obsessed "otaku in Japan" type. Not that that's a bad thing, but a line has to be drawn somewhere.

Can't say much really if we don't know much about the waifu. Women have the tendency to hate all of men's hobbies anyways. Videogames? hate. Repairing stuff? hate. Reading books for most of the day? hate. Building stuff? hate. I could go on forever. My sister always complains about my lack of "life" since my hobbies (like mentioned above) are not to her liking. Of course, her hobby is being out all day all her bloody free days with friends and church.

He talked about losing "the two things that meant more to [him] than anything". Well, they apparently didn't mean more to him than making videos and buying shit to play with, until they split. Time for lukemorse1 to grow up, man up, and fix what's fucked up... assuming there's a way to do so.

Gaming's fun and all, but when you have a wife and a kid, they damn well better come before any hobby. If they don't, then you earn what you get when the ones who loved you split because you're too wrapped up in your own obsessive hobbies to notice you're putting them on the back burner.

Perhaps this makes me a cold-hearted prick, but I have no real sympathy for this guy. He brought it on himself by paying too much attention to what he had, and not enough to who he had.

What if both of them didn't give a shit? We don't know about that. He doesn't mention it. Does he ever mention how the woman was? Nope. Does he ever mention if they made an attempt to work out their problem? Nope. Maybe the woman was out all day? We can just speculate if we don't have a full picture of the situation.

OK, he is sitting in a tiny room with about a zillion dollars of video game shit and he said it was his fault. So....

I checked his user page. Says it's a "temporary separation." That's a lot of drama for something temporary.

By the way, there's something I failed to mention in my previous post. As much as it may seem to the contrary, I'm not a heartless bastard. I do hope this wake up call will get him to put things in the order they need to be in, and that he and his wife will work this out and get back together. I don't wish loneliness or heartbreak on anyone, nor do I like to see a kid grow up with their parents living in different places. But this could have been prevented had he paid more attention to her and their kid, which is why I feel the way I do in my first post on this.

Yeah, exactly. If people are complaining that your video gaming is hurting their feelings or life, *especially* if you are married to them, then you need to seriously think about what you are doing.

Even if you feel ok with it.

That was posted a couple days before he made his final video. It must have escalated farther than that, but we may never know.

I was at a hobby shop that had this sign posted: "He who dies with the most toys WINS!" For some folks, they can get too involved in their hobby/lifestyle that it affects others around him or her. Some folks will never change as that is how they are anyways. If it takes something drastic such as seperation as a "wake up" call, then so be it. Hardcore otaku are a very different breed entirely. ^_~

There is bound to be many people engaged in a similar situatiuon, hobbies can become life consuming to the point were you alienate those around you. I think World of warcraft had probably caused this a few times. Sometimes we need someone else to break the cycle or move us on.

I don't think you are heartless and I agree completely. This kind of stuff doesn't just happen over night and if you fail to see the signs, well then you deserve what you get.

Everything in life happens for a reason. I was told to carry on with my hobby if thats what made me happy. So now is he going to give up his hobby even though thats the only thing left? Big mistake.

I agree, but then again. If his hobby is the thing that destroyed his life it is quite understandable that he is feeling resentment to it now.

I feel bad for him. I think it's quite east to forget what's important here in life in favor of work, hobbies, sports or whatever. I feel blessed to have a girlfriend who is just as nerdy as I am, although her obsession is another one than mine.

He just became addicted to youtube and buying rubbishy cheap games because he clearly had little interest in his new little Family. It wasn't fast cars, fast women and slow race horses so he can get them back if he wants. He should fill up his motor with all his junk, take it to Aki, get the cash, pay off his debts and take his Family on holiday. Actions speak louder than words. If she still doesn't have him back and wants to bring up a Child on her own then she ain't normal!

When a Wife bears a Child they can sometimes become totally devoted (and rightly so) leaving their Husband playing second fiddle. What lukemorse1 clearly did in the meantime was to become totally addicted to youtube. His videos never featured the greatest of games and they were never reported upon with the greatest of knowledge but his sheer passion and quantity over quality mentality won him many a follower (plus the arcade machines in the background looked good!).

Many a time watching a lukemorse1 video was cringe worthy for me (that is why I un-subscribed). It was a car crash waiting to happen. When clearly he should of been using his limited funds (ALT or Gaba boy at best?) on nappies or hospital fees, he chose instead to spend his money on rubbish games in an attempt to impress a virtual fanbase that he had tried so hard to build up, probably due to sheer boredom.

One never saw his Missus (one assumed she was camera shy and/or a total beast) and his Child only once. What he should of been doing was spending time with his Wife when said Child was put down for the night enjoying their limited time together.

The family was never spotted in the car going to MacDonalds, the shops or enjoying a Matsuri for example, totally separate lives. In reality what has probably happened is that his Wife ran back to her Parents for the weekend with Child for the weekend to teach him a lesson and will be back before next, purely to teach him a lesson. It worked a treat.

There is no need for anyone to lose any sleep over it, there is worse things happening in the World believe you me. If lukemorese1 ever makes another video on his channel then that would be a sad, ratings winning, pathetic day. He should Listen to 'It's too late' by the Streets, have more of a cry, move on, get back and shut up.

We're making a lot of generalizations in this thread knowing about nothing.

Edit: there's like three ladies around here out of like several hundreds of active users. Kudos to them for being different, but let's be honest, most women just don't care about what men like. The one's that do are the extreme minority.

The family was never spotted in the car going to MacDonalds, the shops or enjoying a Matsuri for example, totally separate lives.
why would he put his family in a channel devoted to video games especially when the internet is full of people who would have potentially just then focused on what his family looked like etc?

you only have to look at some of the youtube comments to realise why it's a good idea to not share details of your family, workplace, earnings etc.
What he should of been doing was spending time with his Wife when said Child was put down for the night enjoying their limited time together.
well, could also be that he wasn't spending time with the wife when the child -wasn't- put down for the night. i.e. when the wife needs the most help with house work, chores, etc. I'm sure that could have the potential to cause a lot of friction.

actually, if we was only spending time with the wife when the kid was out of the way i'm sure that would potentially wind her up too.

anyways, no one will know for sure - didn't strike me as a bad guy at all, and relationships can be complicated.

If he's so aware of all thing's he did wrong now and this was truly progressive situation why couldn't he have stopped it at one point? I think their is shit load we're not hearing about. None of our business anyway I guess.

Doesn't seem like the kind of guy who wouldn't try to spend some time with his love one's.
