Hmm I wasn't aware of different versions. It's Japanese if that's any help.

There are three. The core game is the same, but levels are swapped around and remixed, and each has some unique levels too. Difficulty varies too.

Two are a single board, and the third is a double layer with a load of extra ROMs for the extra graphics.

One of the single board ones is what all the ports were made from :)

I've owned all three and stuck with the double layer solely because it's the most recent version, and the levels duplicated from the others have enhanced graphics.

It does make playing another version of it very difficult though!

Interesting. I know it's a single layer PCB. Any indications as to which version I might have specifically?

Is this the enhanced graphics version? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wD0VFu1ttw

Three layers? I've seen an Irem M72 (Mr. Heli) and it was two layers.

Also, it's a single board that the X68000 NZ Story is ported from, then?

Willow. This is the 3rd time I've bought this board. Need to quit selling the CPS1 stuff.

M72 have 3 layers. Some M72 games exist on M81 hardware which has two layers, but Mr Heli is not one of them.

Wow, I really feel like playing Mr Heli now ... off to the board rack!

Hmm. Coulda sworn that was an M72 but now I realize I don't remember seeing the M72 designation on the board - could ask A|G about it but I think you must be right.

Also worth noting it was a Mr. Heli converted to a Ninja Spirit.

Neo Drift Out for me.

Loving it's simplicity, and enjoying playing a PCB that isn't a 2D shooter...

I did indeed - £49 'buy it now' on eBay, including shipping. I'd seen it valued at £60 elsewhere (Arcade Otaku perhaps...)

The New Zealand Story.

Looks like my two tier pcb was converted from a Taito/Kaneko Kabuki Z lower board with an original NZ labeled top board with original eproms along with burned eproms.
