What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
Japanese retail shmups of course. Seeing as alot of the cave shmups such as Ibara on the PS2" are fetching high prices on eBay which shmups on the 360 (if any) do you think will become rare and collectable?
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?

If I knew, I wouldn't tell.*
I'd say take a chance.
You win some, you lose some.
*no way of telling as nobody outside the companies knows about size of production & you can't predict future reprints indistinguishable from the original....

Personally, I'd guess that the US release of Raiden Fighters Aces has that possibility.
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
Shiki 3 and RFA are already hard to find. I would say Shooting Love 200X and BLEX eventually. I expect Death Smiles to be reprinted a bunch of times though.

I think Mamoru will definitely be worth something. It has that rare feel and bizarre style to it that could possibly propel it up.

Cynical I may be, but that's why I posted Border Down 'playing strats 'on the Border Down Reprint thread a while back. Purely to prove that the people hyped about the re-release were only looking to collect and not play the game. Sure enough, everyone on that thread carried on talking about the rarity etc.

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I'm guessing all of them will become moderately valuable - as in, 5-10 years down the road they'll all cost about the same used as they did new originally, with a few that might be worth more than the original new price. My current random guesses as to which those will be are Deathsmiles and Shooting Love.

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
Mamoru has a good chance since they will probably not do any reprint. Specially the LE.
DoDonPachi is a possibility, but it depends on how this patch situation will end. The first "pre-patch" run should be valuable from somepoint in the future, but there is plenty in stock in the market.
DeathSmiles definetely no, maybe for the LE.
Maybe Shooting Love.
All others, Shiki, RFA, have a good supply in the market. Their price rised in the last months more due to the weakness of the dolar, strong yen than anything else.

No I wouldn't of bought a Japanese xbox if I had no intention of playing these games. Also if I didn't have a interest about the actual games themselves then I wouldn't have joined this forum.DEL wrote:Rebel Ninja wrote; What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?Posted: Sun Aug 09, 2009 4:06 pm

Eh, maybe Mamoru, but that's it in my opinion. It has a very unique style, and I doubt it will ever get a second print run.
DOJBLEX will have many print runs, and even the first prints are still in stock everywhere.
DeathSmiles will have many print runs, and the LE is still avaliable to buy.
RFA, Shooting Love, Otomedius G, all easy to find.

I say Ketsui 360 , it's not even out yet and already impossible to find .

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I'd say Progear, see if you can find me one of those.
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I think Cave would make out pretty good if they went around and gathered up the rights from Atlus and Capcom and released a "Cave Classics" disc. Or even just throw them up for 1000yen downloads on XBL.m3tall1ca wrote:I'd say Progear, see if you can find me one of those.
Donpachi
Dodonpachi
ESP Ra.De.
Dangun Feveron
Guwange
Progear
Essentially everything pre PS2 port era.

Shit, I'd gladly pay $200 for a compilation like that... if the ports were good, that is.undamned wrote:I think Cave would make out pretty good if they went around and gathered up the rights from Atlus and Capcom and released a "Cave Classics" disc. But as for Cave games becoming rare, my guess is that the supposed fixed release of DOJBLX would have the best chance of becoming rare. Because the game already *technically* came out.

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I like to keep up with what is going to be rare/$$/htf- not for money's sake- but rather so I can grab one before it gets pricey. My backlog of games is huge- but I eventually play through everything anyways- I'd rather pay $59.99 from an import shop than bite down and cough up $200.
(Fun fact: I bought + sold Radiant Silvergun for around that price -$50- around the time it came out. Also had House of the Dead, Shining Force 3, Burning Rangers pre-ordered from Funco/EB games but ended up spotting my mom some money back in the day and to this day I have not purchased HOTD or SF 3:P)

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
Wasn't really sure where to ask this question, and didn't really feel it warranted a thread of it's own: which, out of all the current 360 retail shmups, would people *not* recommend buying? I know DOJ is one to avoid in it's current state, are there any more?
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I wouldn't recommend Otomedius, and Shooting Love 200X is hit or miss. When I think about it, there isn't really that many shmups for 360, when you cut off the ones that aren't that good/are just there because they're in the genre.
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I had my doubts about Otomedius since seeing the videos a while back. I think Konami's time would have been better spent doing a new Gradius or revisiting something else from their back catalogue like Xexex or Thuder Cross... It does look like a poor mans Parodius.

Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
I'd imagine most of the the 360 shmups might end up on the Japanese games on demand service and probably for 2000 points each if the current list is an indicator.
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
If/when that happens, you can guarantee that they'll all still be region-locked (just like all the Xbox Originals - well, the ones that were region-locked in the first place, some of them were region-free).
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
But you can't use points, you need to use a credit card. Oh and it's ip locked.Kron wrote:I'd imagine most of the the 360 shmups might end up on the Japanese games on demand service and probably for 2000 points each if the current list is an indicator.
Re: What xbox 360 shmups do you think will become rare?
That's incorrect. In the Buy section for each GoD game, there's a Change Payment Option > Redeem Code screen. There you can use a points card from the relevant region to buy GoD games. This is also stated in the GoD FAQ on the 360 itself.
I doubt the IP lock is true either. No other content (not even Xbox originals, which are usually region-locked) are IP locked on Xbox Live.

who cares, neither game will be as rare as working consoles will be once production is discontinued.
