I don't think that's the reason. That might be relevant if we were being held back by backbone speeds (though every source I've seen on the subject says that laying the cable itself is cheap compared to the cost of operating it, and that there's already a huge amount of unused cable running all over the US), but we're largely held back by problems with local connections. The population density of Wyoming shouldn't have any effect on whether you can get a nice connection in Seattle or New York City (each of which hosts a huge internet exchange).

I have developed a fool-proof method to get Lamestop to discontinue their practice of selling open games as new:

1.- Select the game you want to buy at Gamestop and take to front counter.

2.- Pull out money required to pay for such game.

3.- Wipe your ass with the bills you will use to pay for the game, in front of the store clerk.

4.- Hand him the money and walk out with your game.

5.- Repeat as necessary. Eventually they will get the message.
Don't hold grudges. GET EVEN.

The vast majority of people you'll meet on any gaming forum don't like GameStop. But because it's the only game store chain in the country, people buy there out of convenience and lack of choice for pre-owned games.

There are at least a couple other chains (Play N Trade and Game Crazy), but they have nowhere near as many locations as Gamestop (which is basically a merger of a bunch of other chains - I know they got Software Etc., Babbage's, Electronics Boutique, Funcoland, and Rhino Games).

It seems the Best Buy price matching policy is only being tested locally so far and hasn't gone nationwide yet;
