I picked up Capcom's long-delayed Killer 7 the other day. It's totally different from what I was expecting. I thought it would be an FPS... in actuality, it's more like a rail shooter where you can switch to first person and change tracks. You have a "move forward" and "turn around button," and by holding down the R button you switch to first person and can shoot. When you get to a junction, you select what way you want to go and slide onto that "rail." It's quite strange at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly.
The game's unique... hrm, how to describe it? Psychotic maybe? The style of the game is what makes it really stand out, with lots of weird enemies, strange sound effects, and absurd violence. Lots of fun.

That would be too bad if the game actually turns out well. I have an evaluation copy I'm dying to try out but have to wait to get back to my PS2 in about a week. If it's good will be picking up the US GC release when it hits as the JP cover art was crap.

Yeah, the JP GC cover art is pointless. I have no idea what the hell they were thinking. The PS2 cover art is better (at least it has -something- to do with the game) but it's still really standard.
How is the games pace? Judging from the rail shooter comparison I would expect some faster paced action sequences but everything that i have seen leads me to believe that the game moves at a much slower, more deliberate clip. I will pick up the US rev regardless but if someone could elaborate I would appreciate it.
It's much more methodically paced. You'll go for a few minutes at a time without shooting anything on occasion. When you face multiple enemies at once it can get pretty hectic, but that's more the exception than the rule. I've only fought one boss so far, and while it was a pretty cool battle, it was also very deliberately paced.
I've been following this game for a long time (ever since I saw the trailer along with the RE4 trailer), but now that more of the gameplay has been revealed, it just seems like the game won't have any real replay value. Any thoughts on that?
