Half Life 2 Episode Two Ending **Spoilers!**

Post by ST Dragon »

I just completed Half Life 2 Episode 2 on the PC. It was better compared to Episode 1 as it felt longer and graphics were improved. The story line was dark, sinister & dramatic as it should be in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi game, with nice twists and contrasts in the tale, but what greatly surprised me was the ending!
How could they have killed Dr. Eli Vance, a key role character in such a culminating pivotal moment, right before they embark on their search for the Borealis science vessel in the Arctic? Twice he tried to reveal something to Gordon about the sinister past at Black Mesa, but was interrupted and said that they would talk about it later! So what were those dark secrets and who will reveal them now, the G-Man?

I prefer sad / dramatic endings over the smirky / corny endings we usually get in modern boring Hollywood films, but I think they should have saved such an event for Episode 3.
Over all this is an awesome series and can’t wait for Episode 3! Anyone know of the release date?

Welcome to 2007!

Easily one of the best endings in any game. The emotional impact was just stunning. The sounds of Alex crying through the fade out to the credits was just heartbreaking.

I have a feeling that no matter how long it takes, Episode 3 will be absolutely worth the wait. Valve can take as long as they like.

True kengou. I heard EP3 is going to be 20 hours long so that would explain why it's taking them so long to develop. Not to mention both EP1 AND EP2 team work on it together. I'm not one of those guys who hate L4D2 because it's first to be released before EP3, wrong. It just gives them more time to develop (and expand/polish it if possible)

I thought all the hate for L4D2 was becuase it should be an add on to the first one rather than a stand alone game? But yeah back to the original subject asfar as im concerned they can take as long as they like with the game, the quality keeps getting better and better.

I’m really looking forward for this Half Life 1 remake:

They say it’ll be out this year!

Which is a good thing it's coming now, as I’ve never completed the 1st Half Life back in 1999!
When I replayed it 2 years ago, I thought the graphics looked bad even for 1999 standards, so I didn’t play more than 2-4 levels. Even the atmosphere wasn’t as imposing as it’s hyped to be.
Hopefully this enhanced version will be good enough to encourage me to beat it.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer that we wait for HL2E3. I'll get the 360 version.

Laying a grenade up basketball style into a Combine sniper's window then hearing said bastard monotonously blurt "Oh shit" is hilarious. 2 points, and then some. ;)

Ep.2's ending is indeed sad and a real shock. It's great to have saved Alix, but watching her father die in that horrid manner- ugh. I'm ready to kick some Advisors' shit in after that, assuming there's some way to defeat their telekinetic immobilization. As long as it's taken to do Ep.3, hopefully Valve is ready to throw several new Combine enemies in.

Kaiser- 20 hrs? Incredible. Where did you hear that? That length almost would make it like a true sequel.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

Will there actually be a 360 version? Orange box was awesome, Episode 2 was an incredible game. It just keeps getting better as you go through it.
