STGT 2009 - because there just hasn't been enough bitching

R-Type Leo has 1M x amount of lives at game clear, but is that a problem? Game is not too tough, fairly short, etc. Could make a week.

The only other week outside of hori week I could think up of is Cave (which could work, I guess) or Manic (which would probably be mostly Cave ) week.

We could do a CAVE week this year since we have 3 games left (DoDonPachi, ESP Ra.De., Dangun Feveron, and that assumes you count STGT '06 as such an event and Dangun Feveron's Time Attack didn't get it DQed, which I wouldn't do).

Seconded. Just pick 5 five games for their respective weeks and get it over with. If people bitch and complain, then either let them bitch and complain or change the game (in which you're prone to get bitching and complaining there). You just can't please everyone, because if you try your hardest to please everyone, you'll end up pleasing no one, and that's when STGT becomes this:

So...how many STGTs will it take before we start recycling previously played games?

Or will STGT just come to a full stop once we've completely exhausted the good tournament-OK shmups? (After all, no one wants to play a crappy tournament-NG shmup, right?)

I'm seriously considering no voting, it would mean less work and we could go through all of the games in 5 or 6 weeks easily. I'm guessing I should just announce the basic theme of each week (which are mostly the same as the ones I announced in the first post), then actually announce the game the moment the playing week comes up.

I already made up a list of games that look solid and have good scoring systems (though some might be a little complex for one week). And at least Twiddle didn't hate the list.

I agree, take control, get rid of the voting. It just wastes time and half the people aren't happy anyway. I love playing them all so I'm happy with anything, but there again I'm easily pleased when it comes to shoot 'em ups

We should get a small group of board veterans who aren't playing this year to select the games. They'd be knowledgeable and would pick good games (I hope).
