kick harness on egret 2 ??

Post by charlie chong »

al 12 of my buttons are wired in my egret 2 but i don't know what to ? theres no sign of a cps2 kick harness but there are 2 or 3 connectors around the loom. one is the stereo connector i guess but are the other connectors for the kicks and if so how would you wire that to a cps2 board?.
i know i can just wire a kick harness but it seems it's already wired in some way

I keep meaning to figure this out myself, but my panel only has 8 buttons so I've not done so yet. The loom is there for 12, all wired in.

The manual scans I can find online are incomplete :( Will have to check my manuals at some point to see if they detail things.

Buttons 4,5,6 (the bottom row on 6-button CPs) are wired through the CP connectors J (P1) and K (P2). 4,5 go to the Jamma connector (MVS D, select) and 6 goes to connector S. Apparently this wiring is not made with CPS fighters in mind. You either wire the kick harness (crimp the wire together with the existing ones if you don't want to lose the original connections) directly to the buttons (easy way) or to the cab side of connectors J and K (again, dual crimping if you don't want to lose the connections for jamma 4 and 5). This is more difficult (you need to get hold of JST YL contacts) but then you can easily swap Taito 6-button CPs while leaving them 100% original. There are other ways I can think of (butt splices, etc.) but they're not as neat of course.

It's a JST YL (same type as the CP J and K connectors).
This pic is of an AWSD but it should be the same on Egrets:

The mating connector would be YLR-02V

Hey guys, hate to bump an old thread-

To fill in button 5 on my egret 2- What kind of crimp pins do I need (male/female)? Everything is wired in on the underside, but the top side as you can see has some gaps for the buttons.

Will the pins that Akihabara Shop work? Also- where is the ground on the harness? I don't have experience using a crimper, but it doesn't look that hard.
