Whats the difference between colour label version shmups?
Ive seen ppl talking about different versions of the same game but calling the white, black or blue labels eg BWR+ is a blue version of BWR. What does this mean and is thee a standard when calling a game a label?

There's no standard. It varies from extra difficulty settings (Blue Wish), to gameplay enhancements (Mushihimesama), to boss rush (Ketsui DS).
"A game isn't bad because you resent it. A game is bad because it's shitty."

Calling revisions and variants of game XYZ "XYZ something label" is rather appropriate and cool.TrevHead (TVR) wrote:Ive seen ppl talking about different versions of the same game but calling the white, black or blue labels
CAVE does this often: 4 different games (Ibara, Dodonpachi DOJ, Mushihimesama Futari, Deathsmiles) have a special edition called "Black Label", Mushihimesama has a "Blue Label" and the Ketsui port for the Nintendo DS is called "Death Label".
Note that CAVE names revisions of the "same" game with numbers (e.g. Mushihimesama Futari 1.5) and full-fledged sequels with different related names: Donpachi/Dodonpachi/Dodonpachi II/Dodonpachi Dai Ou Jou/Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu, Ibara/Ibara Pink Sweets, Mushihimesama/Mushihimesama Futari, Esp ra.de/Espgaluda/Espgaluda II...
Other "labels" appear in the extended names used to distinguish ROM sets, in which case they usually refer to actual stickers on chips or boards: for example MAME has 4 Defender variants listed as Green, Red, Blue and White Label.
It might be an homage to CAVE titling.eg BWR+ is a blue version of BWR.
It means nothing and there is no standard. What does this mean and is thee a standard when calling a game a label?

Let me meditate on this issue with some Johnnie Walker.

I personally find this color labeling bullshit.
They should concentrate their efforts in making new games instead of pumping already crazy-difficult existent ones.

In so far as Cave terminology:
Death Label = Boss Rush
Black Label = Arrange/Remix Mode
White Label = Original game once a Black Label is released
Blue Label = Special competition revision

Red, Black, Green, Gold, Blue Label (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnnie_Walker).
No "Death Label", though. It would be bad for business.
