Madcatz TE = shmup allergy ?

Post by coolix »

For unknown reasons, my madcatz 360 stick tournament edition doesn't work with some games like Reflex or Touhou.
The directions are messed up and the stick seems to be stuck on the "up-left" direction by default, this cause the menu option to scroll reeeaaaly fast or the ship to go on the top left without touching anything.
I'm running Windows XP SP3 and used drivers from there http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... _32Eng.exe

i just found a workaround, but its kind of clumsy:
  • 1. Unplug the stick
    2. Launch the game
    3. Plug the stick
    4. Setup keys from joy2key
    5. Enjoy!
The trick here is to have the stick unplugged so the game ignore it. Then all controls fall back to joy2key configuration

This is an issue with games that try and read the d-pad of a 360 controller w/o realizing that it doesn't exist. I've had this problem with the 360 HRAP as well. The actual stick coordinates can be read from hat#1.
